Competition is also responsible for the 29's one-piece unitized construction process, which spares no expense in the pursuit of a strong, lightweight laminate that is fast, fuel efficient and built to withstand the offshore torture test. Rigging extras such as 1200-gph bilge pumps, flexguard-protected wiring looms, foamed-in fuel tanks and explosion-proof battery switches all derive from lessons learned in the quest for world championships. Tournament competition also ingrained in Fountain the need to sweat even the smallest details. Evidence the 29's hideaway stern cleats, rocket launchers, deck-mounted stainless steel rod holders and a half-tower with a three-piece enclosure.
