1997 Chaparral 290 Signature CLEAN BOAT-RECENTLY REDUCED 1997 Chaparral 290 Signature, Ordered new in 97. All transactions will take place in a bank. No paypall! Clear title and all books in hand. I take very good care of this boat and the condition shows this. It is kept dry on a lift system 75 feet from my bedroom. I start it up every week and occasionally run it to work all of the systems. I keep a dehumidifier in it and turned on at all times. It is dry and clean inside. This boat has a speck hull and was designed for offshore use. Engines are upgraded to 5.7 liter marine vortech or "Magnum" and have approximately 320 hp each. Both have Stainless Marine risers and exhaust manifolds. Both engines were upgraded to marine holly carbs to eliminate bowl evaporation and long starting procedures when hot. Both start in a split second hot or cold. Port motor is relatively new 100hrs and starboard is a rebuilt and has approximately 350hrs after rebuild. Both run well and neither uses oil. I am an experienced captain and neither engine have been run in mud or overheated. A complete tune has been done on both and the drives have been fully serviced. Speeds are 39mph at 3200rpm, 20mph on top at 2000rpm and 60mph at max. This setup could use an inch of pitch which would result in an increase in speed as it goes right to the rev limit at 4800rpm. max efficiency is at 2900rpm giving about 2.0mpg. I only run the boat at 3200 at just under 2.0mpg. It likes this speed. Boat has central heat and air with new panel and new main board and works well. I have the original corian helm table and full helm carpet. One of the inspection plates under the helm seat is an insulated ac/heat duct. Radar arch is wired for everything and has ambient lighting. Generator was being worked on and has new sensors and a new carb and was ready to go back in and a storm blew a wet towel across the positive lead and the starter and started dry and seized the short block. Honda wanted 400 for a short block. I can't figure it out. I am thinking two grand for someone else to fix it. Shore power ac is ice cold and good enough for me. Boat has a Sitex color recorder and a vhf radio but not installed. My fish boat "Scout242" gets all of my time except I start this boat once a week. Upgraded stereo with built in subs and JL audio up front. Separate amps with cheaper speakers in helm area. Helm is fully enclosed and has a duct for ac or heat. Helm canvace front and back needs some work. Top has been redone recently. Seating has always been covered and looks good. Radar arch with ambient lighting, head lights, and rocket launchers. Custom mattress in front with hospital fabric for solar resistance and durability and has not been used. Since starboard engine was rebuilt boat only sees fresh water as my 242scout only sees salt water. It has been a great boat and will work well for someone who wants a high cruising speed or has longer distances to go
