1988 Bertram 50 Convertible Bertram 50 Convertible This Bertram is one of, if not THE nicest, 50's out there and is truly capable of long-range fishing adventures. This is a beautiful boat that commands attention and respect both at and away from the dock. You'll be happy you viewed this well-maintained and equipped sport fishing yacht. I am proud to represent this tastefully refurbished Bertram that was a FRESHWATER boat until May 2012. All fishing items including a Rybovich fighting chair and Pipewelders Outriggers were added since then and the boat is in excellent shape. Since November 2013, the owner has redone the interior including carpets, couches, and bedspreads, as well as new light fixtures, wall coverings, coaming pads and cushions! Every bit of work has been itemized and kept in detailed logs. Boat also includes the original manuals so you get a complete history. New canvas, coaming bolsters, battery chargers, AC compressors, interior paint were completed in June 2014. Fresh bottom paint in 2013 with new zincs and the bottom is kept scrubbed clean. Every pump, macerator, and thru-hull was inspected and/or replaced in December 2013. New batteries in December 2013. Port engine was rebuilt in December 2013. The Starboard engine was rebuilt in Summer 2014. Engines have less than 50 hours and the boat itself only has 1300 hours of use. Twin ONAN 8kw generators with 1067 and 886 hours provide plenty of power away from the dock. The owner of this boat was not afraid to spend money to keep it pristine. Electronics include a Garmin 7212 networked to 5212 chartplotter with a Garmin 72 Mile Open Array and the ability to watch Satellite TV and engine room cameras on the bridge! Built on a rugged deep-V hull with cored hullsides and a relatively wide beam, her superb seakeeping and handling qualities are almost legendary. Initially offered in a three- stateroom layout with the galley up, a spacious two-stateroom, galley-down interior with an enormous salon became available in 1988. A transom door and tackle center were standard in the cockpit, and a wrap- around helm console eliminates the need for an overhead electronics box. A good performer, 735hp 8V92 diesels will cruise at 24 knots (27 knots top) with a range of over 400 miles." As of Aug. 2015: · Complete bottom overhaul -- bottom media blasted and finished sanded down to original surface and then painted with 2 coats of Interlux barrier seal followed by bottom paint (Tinidad 2/3) -- NOTE -- following the media blasting not a single blister was found on the hull !! · All running gear media blasted, polished and painted with 2 coats tie coat primer followed by 2 coats Vivid anti foul · New Cutlass Bearings · New rudder post bearings · Repack both shafts · Buff and wax hull · Buff and wax decks · New timing cover for one of the gensets · New alternator for one of the gensets · Forward hatch and head liner replaced · Fresh water pump rebuilt · Replace AC seacock · Power steering rebuilt · Repair day head Irish Ayes was selected as the Command Boat for filming of the Weather Channel's TV series "Catching Hell" She never missed a beat in some pretty dicey weather and long duty cycles. The show's producers are currently considering a second season and have expressed an interest in rehiring boat and crew.
