This is an antique 14 foot John type boat. It is stainless steel. I believe it is a 1953 model, considered a captains boat. It comes with a trailer with a 2 inch hitch ball. It comes with a 20 lb thrust trolling motor. All the wood sections that you see in the pictures has been refurbished and sealed. Comes with a canvas cover, an oar, two lifejackets, an eagle fishfinder, a brand new deep cycle battery, two newly re-upholstered captain seats, and a cup holder :). The trailer has a new winch, New cable, new tow chains and hooks. This boat rides very straight and smooth through the water. It is great for the weekender fisherman. The only reason I am selling is to buy a bigger boat in the spring.

Cadillac Boat Company [II] Cadillac Boat Company was a firm of boat builders located in Cadillac, Wexford County, Michigan, established in 1953. The company was located at 110 7th Street in Cadillac. In 1955, John Bushnell served as manager, secretary, sales manager and purchasing agent. The company employed 27 men and 3 women in 1955. By 1957, employment shot upward to 164 males and 3 females. The company appears to have been renamed Cadillac Marine and Boat Company after 1957. Cadillac Marine and Boat Company Cadillac Marine & Boat Company was a boat building firm located in Cadillac, Wexford County, Michigan between 1958 and 1960, and a continuation of Cadillac Boat Company under the ownership of Wagemaker Co. of Grand Rapids, Michigan. 1958 models were advertised in the 1958 brochure of Wagemaker Wolverine Boats. The company was located at 110 7th St., P.O. Box 65, in Cadillac. Gaylord Gill was the Manager of the firm in 1960. The company was established in 1953. CADILLAC BOAT HISTORY By Andreas Jordahl Rhude thompsonboat@msn.com 22 July 2010 Cadillac Marine & Boat Company of Cadillac, Michigan started in September 1953 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Wagemaker Company. Boat builder Wagemaker of Grand Rapids, Michigan also owned U.S. Molded Shapes, Inc. and Mr. Raymond O. Wagemaker was president of all three firms. The Cadillac Chamber of Commerce was instrumental in luring the boat firm to the city. Across town was a branch plant of Chris-Craft that opened up in 1941. Cadillac made aluminum fishing boats and runabouts. U.S. Molded Shapes made molded veneer boat hulls for Wagemaker which finished them and marketed the boats as Wagemaker Wolverine. Cadillac also made wooden boats with hulls from U.S. Molded Shapes. Between December 1953 and August 1955 Cadillac made 5,300 boats. A production of 7,000 boats annually was not uncommon in subsequent years. A January 1955 full page ad by Cadillac appeared in The Boating Industry trade magazine. They were promoting aluminum, molded wood, and strip-built boats. A photo of their large 100,000 square foot modern plant was prominent in the ad. Wagemaker Company started Empire Boats, Inc. of Frankfort, New York in 1955 to make aluminum, molded veneer, and fiberglass pleasure boats. They were attempting to cover all bases by having wood, aluminum, and fiberglass watercraft in their product mix. 185 Cadillac workers were on strike in July 1956. Two of the strikers were arrested and held in jail on August seventh with charges of malicious destruction of property on the plant grounds. They were accused of turning on fire suppression sprinklers which damaged office files and plant equipment to the tune of $10,000. A $750,000 fire wiped out the Wagemaker plant at Grand Rapids in February 1957. One thousand five hundred hulls were destroyed in addition to production space and equipment. A great deal of production of wooden boats was shifted to Cadillac Marine and Boat Co. To cover all markets, Cadillac added fiberglass boats to their product line in 1959. Probably one of the wildest boats ever conceived was the sixteen-foot Sea Lark. Industrial design Brooks Stevens was on retainer with Evinrude Motors for many years. He was commissioned to design an annual feature boat on which Evinrude could hang their newest motor. It was displayed with great fan fair at the annual Chicago and New York international boat shows. The boat was not necessarily intended to be built for public consumption. It was a means for Evinrude to gain great publicity for their outboard motors. In 1957 Brooks came up with the Sea Lark to promote the new 35 horse power Lark outboard motor. The boat had a molded wood hull with fiberglass deck and aluminum trim. It was a marriage of the three boat building operations owned by Ray Wagemaker. The sporty two seat speedster had massive fins and featured twin bubble windshields. As far as can be determined, Cadillac made two of these boats. One has been discovered and is the coveted possession of a classic boat collector today. The boat firm first filed for trademark protection of “Cadillac” on October 28, 1955 and it was published in the Official U.S. Patent Register in March 1956. A month later General Motors filed an opposition with the Patent and Trademark Office. Going a step further, General Motors filed a lawsuit against Cadillac Marine & Boat Co. in February 1957 claiming the auto maker had rights to the name "Cadillac" and they wanted the boat builder to cease and desist using the name. In 1964 a federal court slapped the automaker's hands and said they did not have a monopoly on the name Cadillac. GM was ordered to pay $41,000 to the boat maker for legal fees and loss of reputation. Cadillac Boat had a full page ad in The Boating Industry in May 1958. They pictured and describe aluminum, combination of aluminum and fiberglass, and molded wood boats. They were promoted as the “sweetest boat afloat.” Wagemaker also had a full page ad and [US Molded Shapes|U.S. Molded Shapes]] had half a page of advertising space in the issue. Thirty workers were back on the job in March 1960 after the plant being closed for one month. On April 15, 1960 Ray Wagemaker sold all his boat operations to three men: Walter E. Schott, Jr.; Charles J. Schott; and Harrison O. Ash. The Schott's also owned Lyman Boat Works of Sandusky, Ohio through their Curtis Manufacturing business. Operations of Wagemaker Wolverine and U.S. Molded Shapes were shifted to Cadillac Marine & Boat Co. after a $250,000 fire hit the U.S. Molded Shapes plant about April 23, 1960, just days after the sale. The former B.F. Goodrich plant at Cadillac was secured for production space. Harrison Ash gained complete control of Wagemaker, Cadillac, and U.S. Molded Shapes in April 1961. He changed the business names to Ash-Craft Company at that time. U.S. Molded Shapes, Inc. at Cadillac, Michigan was on the auction block on Tuesday 10 October 10, 1961. The machinery and brand name and good will were purchased by Chicago businessmen Frank Zale and Jerry Fencl. Fencl was head of Delta Boat and Marine Sales of Oaklawn, a builder of wooden boats. They had been obtaining their hulls from the Cadillac operation. Fencl’s brother Milo operated MiloCraft Boats of Chicago, another builder of molded veneer boats. Only a few months later, in January 1962, U.S. Molded Shapes was sold to Kenneth Zick of Charlotte, Michigan. Eighteen workers were on the payroll at the time. U.S. Molded Shapes of Cadillac was advertising in the January 1962 issue of The Boating Industry. Ash-Craft, makers of Wolverine and Cadillac Boats, had a four page, full color brochure inserted in the magazine. Ash was attempting to move all the boat production to West Virginia under another one of his firm umbrellas, New-Kanawha Industrial Corp. in 1961. On November 2, 1962 all the firms owned by Ash filed for bankruptcy. It cannot determine if boats were ever built in West Virginia. It is not know when boats were no longer being built by Cadillac in Michigan. When the federal court awarded "Cadillac Marine and Boat Co." the $41,000 in 1964 in the failed suit brought by General Motors, it is unknown who got that money. Was it Mr. Ash or was there a corporate shell of Cadillac Marine still around or did it go to the bankruptcy referee or trustee?

And, unlike many of her competitors, the 31 PC is a large cruiser with a whopping beam of 11 feet, packed with top-of-the-line accessories and built to last for decades.“ Layout At the stern, a roomy cockpit greets the owner and guests alike with a beam width, molded swim platform. Conveniently incorporated into the transom is a locker with ample space for fenders, lines and cables. From here you can plug your shore power in at the dock and rinse off with a hot and cold water shower to port. The aft cockpit area presents wraparound seating which converts easily to a dining spot or a roomy sun lounge. Within easy reach is a wet bar that has a small counter top and matching sink to keep beverages at hand. A pair of cabinets below provides plenty of storage space and you can opt for a durable stainless steel fridge or ice maker. Behind the Wheel Formula offers one the finest helm stations on the water. She presents flip-up bolster seating for two, a full gamut of instrumentation, and best of all, Lavorsi Marine throttle and transmission controls. When you want go up to the foredeck, access is secure with large steps and a steel handrail. Another nice feature is the concealed and well designed anchor locker with tackle, washdown, and windlass controls, all neatly placed under a sturdy hatch. The Cabin Down three steps through the companion way and you are welcomed into an air condition cabin with 6 foot 4 inches of headroom. An L- shaped, Ultra-leather sofa is to starboard and provides a pair of cherry wood dining tables for meal time or can be used as an additional bunk when you’ve got guests staying aboard. Galley Features Directly to port is a fully equipped galley with a microwave, a flat screen TV and a large work surface. Mounted in the center is a deep sink, which is just next to a concealed, two-burner cooktop. Below the countertop is a roomy refrigerator/ freezer combo, paired with a storage cabinet and drawer bank. Also to port, is a private head compartment that supplies plenty of room to use the vanity sink, VacuFlush toilet and shower. The head is nicely finished with quality materials and chromed fixtures. At the rear of this cruiser is the aft cabin which has a plush, L-shaped settee and enough headroom to sit comfortably without feeling cramped. This area converts into a double berth, but with some unnecessary effort. With or without the bunk made, you can enjoy the large flat screen LCD TV while relaxing. Completing the cabin is an island V berth with several drawers below. Although good for some, tall member of the family may have trouble sleeping in this bunk. (Boattest.com) BOATING WORLD (June, 2005) writes: …Enter the Formula 31 PC. At first glance, it appears to be like so many other express cruisers: pleasing lines and styling that at least remind you of smaller and sportier boats. The challenge is always in the execution. Make enough room inside and the boat can look top-heavy and bloated. Maintain the sensuous curves, and wind up with a cramped interior that won’t silence the little voice because there isn’t enough room inside for extended trips, whether overnight or a long weekend. The Formula has a well-proportioned look, with portholes below the sheerline and what appears to be a minimal cabin hump on the foredeck. Viewed from a distance, you might expect a small cabin that’s dark and uncomfortable. But looks can be deceiving. Ample Storage There’s a galley across from an extended settee for meals. Corian countertops, cherry cabinetry and a stainless steel sink combine for a very stylish galley that also is unusually workable — even practical — for a boat this size. An attractive cherry door hides the installed refer, while a Corian insert covers the two-burner range when not in use, adding extra countertop space for prep work. Overhead cabinets house the microwave oven, as well as a flat-panel LCD TV mounted flush on the face of the center door. Open the door and find storage behind the TV, into which a standard CRT television would be installed. The lounge opposite features a modular table design to feed multiple crewmembers, or stow the tables for a more open feeling when relaxing at the end of the day. More overhead cabinets for storage also house the stereo system and speakers. Even with the tables in place, the Formula’s 11-foot beam makes moving around in the cabin a breeze, even with someone in the galley. The double berth forward is people-sized, with a thick mattress for comfort. Drawers on the face of the berth provide more storage, and a curtain pulls across for privacy while allowing a more open feeling during the day. Mirrored doors open to reveal cedar-lined hanging lockers. Additional storage is under the berth platform, as well as the battery for the optional bow thruster. A U-shaped settee in the aft area quickly converts to a berth for another couple, or makes a private retreat to read or relax. An optional LCD TV can be installed here, making this area a private theater. We opened up all the hatches, pulled up all the seat cushions and opened all the cabinets looking for unfinished surfaces. Even the bilge is gelcoated white, and the only rough spot we found was a piece of glass that is laminated into a limber hole, forcing any water in the compartment to run through the hole into the main bilge. Practical Choices From the pleasing aesthetics to the well thought out and abundant storage throughout, the Formula has the feel of a much more expensive boat. We loved the look and comfort of the interior, and there was nothing negative the voice in our head could say, as it was all so practical. Even the head allows a 6-foot-tall adult to stand and shower without stooping. And a shower curtain pulls around the head to keep the sink and door dry while still providing room to actually use the shower. Too many express cruisers give you a head with barely enough room to stand. Adding a drain and a faucet does not a washroom make; if you’ve gotta have a shower, it might as well be usable. The interior is also as uncavelike as possible thanks in part to three translucent hatches overhead, which let in plenty of natural light. The rich cherry woodwork was offset by the multiple taupe hues in our test boat. Three other color choices are available besides “morning sand” used in this boat, but all of them (sapphire, titanium and silver) use their color palette to enrich the look without condensing the feel of the space. Outside Comfort If your little voice is telling you that all of this interior practicality must come at the expense of usable outdoor entertainment space, stepping onto the deck will silence it in a hurry. Walking through the transom door accesses an aft U-shaped lounge that easily converts to a large sunpad with cushions that have a dedicated storage space. Don’t worry about the door staying open or closed, as a friction lock keeps it in the position you want it. The swim step is large, with a trunk space for storage of fenders, sunpad cushions and the lounge tables and posts. Set up the cockpit however you like; there won’t be a bunch of items rattling around underfoot. One step up is the helm area, with side-by-side seats for the captain and first mate that include bolsters for sitting or leaning. The helm itself has plenty of room for electronics and easy-to-read gauges. Opposite on the port side is another short settee with — surprise — more storage under it. Our test boat had the optional small refer in the mini bar opposite the lounge. An ice-maker can be installed here as well, but the refer seems more practical for keeping cold beverages close at hand. A sink with a faucet hides out of sight under a Corian cover that is hinged with a lift strut. You won’t misplace the cover and it won’t be in the way. More storage lies under the lounge cushions, and there is even a shallow compartment over the engine room. All of these compartments are finished off inside with gleaming gelcoat, and have raised ribs to allow any water from items stored here to run off. The cabin door is solid for privacy when closed, and wide steps with a grabrail lead up to the opening in the windshield for access to the bow. Not practical to open the canvas to go forward? Narrow but passable sidedecks allow an alternate route forward. Showboating So while all this feeds the responsible part of your brain, and you’re ready to “settle down” and accept the idea that leisurely cruising the waterways is a more practical approach, reach over and turn the ignition keys. Twin 6.2 MerCruiser MPI V-8’s power to life, and the separate Livorsi throttle and shift sportboat controls give you complete command of the Bravo 3 drives. You don’t have to give up the enticing gleam of stainless steel props. Nor do you have to give up performance, as our lightly loaded test boat exceeded 50 mph with the wind at its back (this was with full canvas up, and a factory-fresh delivered boat that hadn’t had its final setup by the dealer). Average top speed was 43.5 knots (49.5 mph if you prefer) and cruise speed at 3,400 rpm was 27 knots. Fine-tuning of the drive and tabs may eke out another knot. Don’t worry about keeping up with your less responsible sportboat buddies. Unless they’re running some wicked setup you’ll have no problem cruising alongside them. And at the end of the day they’ll be hanging out on your boat for all the room and socializing. They’ll even want a ride, and be amazed at the sportboat handling of the Formula. It’s so nimble that it doesn’t feel like 31 feet long at speed. The best part may be that with the Imron painted-on graphics, attractive lines, unique anchor overhang on the bow and superior detailing and finish work, they’ll have no idea just how practical (or affordable) the Formula 31 PC really is. That oughta shut up the little voices. At least for the next five years. Importing a Boat to Australia We have some of the best rates for RORO-shipping to Australia in the U.S. and we serve the ports of Brisbane, Adelaide, Port Kembla, Fremantle, and Melbourne. Whether you are a repeat customer or a first-time buyer, here’s a few tips and reminders about buying, shipping, and importing boats and yachts to Australia from the U.S. Finding the right boat. Buying a boat from another country often means dealing with people that you never met or dealt with in the past. There’s tons of free classified ads and Craig’s list-type re-advertisers on the internet with deals just too good to be true. If it sounds too good, then, you’d guessed it, it probably is a scam. Do your research. Be realistic. Partner up with a Pro (like us). We suggest you deal with us. Each week we get shipping, export, and certification inquiries from some of the country’s well respected marine dealers. We work in close cooperation with country-wide brand name retailers such as Marinemax and with the brand stores of Regal, Chaparral, Monterey, Bayliner, Larson – just to mention a few. We are a fully licensed Non Vessel Operating Common Carrier by the Federal Maritime Commission and as such we operate our own in-house shipping company. We have exclusive contracts with some of the largest steamship companies in the world. As one of the rather few NVOCC’s we have the authority to buy and resell space on ocean-going cargo ships and issue our own bills of lading. What does this mean for you? As an individual? Well, by contacting us directly you are likely to save considerable time and money by dealing directly with the contract holder (as opposed to a string of middlemen). Buying a boat directly from us or through our brokerage division Boats International, Inc. is our own in-house discount boat dealership. We buy bulk trade-in’s from the big retailers but we also buy from banks and individuals as well. For the past 20+ years our focus have been to absorb distressed inventory and floor-plan boats from cash-strapped dealers and resell these locally and overseas. As we now are completing our store expansion project (September, 2011) we will be able to take on even more inventory then in the past and also have space over to showcase brokerage and consignment boats. Most of our international buyers rely on our reputation and expertise as a key player on the U.S. domestic and international boat market and they seek our help to source the boat(s) that they seek. If we do not have what they seek in stock we’ll be sure to find it through our network of dealers and banks for the right money. Whether your buying a stock boat from us or one from another dealer we are well equipped to assist you with every step from inspection to final delivery of your boat or yacht to Australia. For example we can help you or your client with: Finding a Boat or Yacht that meets (or exceeds) your requirements in terms of condition, equipment, and of course price Negotiate the Deal (including but not limited to title searches, accident reports, previous owner status, etc) Survey & Physical Inspection (we have a longstanding partnership with a number of accredited marine surveyors, mechanics, and experts in most regions of the country) Closing the Deal – we often act as intermediary for international buyers as most of our overseas clients prefer only to work with one turn-key partner Pre-shipping Logistics – once the deal is done and the boat paid for we assist in coordinating haul-outs, marina loadings, boat ramp pickups and inland U.S. land transport/trucking through our in-house logistics company Boatlogistic.com, Inc. Pre-Export Preparation – Sanitation, Fumigation, De-gassing of refrigerants. Australia has (as you probably know already) very specific and strict import restrictions for boats and vessels. The governing body is the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) which is part of the Australian Government’s Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. Depending on the geographical location of the boat and the required preparation of the vessel we can either prepare the boat for export to Australia while underway, or we can have it completed at our marina in Pompano Beach, Florida. Australian Shipping Services Team – our Australian Shipping Services Team assist with Sanitize boats & yachts prior to port delivery – AQIS will stop all boats that are dirty and soiled to check for insect/parasite infestations Fumigation of boats and cradles according to AQIS-standard (Methyl Bromide 3.0 lbs / 1,000 cubic feet / 24 hrs) De-gassing of Air-conditioning Systems (AC) Refrigeration HVAC HFC HCFC Providing HVAC Customs Certification With our certificates our customer are NOT REQUIRED to obtain the otherwise very expensive Australian import licenses. Trailer Import Permit Assistance The Australian Government’s Department of Infrastructure and Transport requires that all imported boat trailers have an Import Approval. You can read more about the approval at the Department’s website or you can download the .pdf-application “Import a Small Road Trailer” here. Import Duties and Goods and Services Tax (GST) If you’re buying a US-made boat, according to the United States-Australia Free Trade Agreement, you aren’t required to pay the 5% duty (as we’ll supply the required waiver forms). You must, however pay 10% GST on all costs associated with the purchase of the the boat, ocean freight, duty, wharf charges, customs broker fees, and destination port fees.. ISPM-15 – No Worries Mate – We Fumigate All Wooden Cradles & Provide Proof of Fumigation International Standards For Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM 15) is an International Phytosanitary Measure developed by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) that directly addresses the need to treat wood materials of a thickness greater than 6mm, used to ship products between countries. Its main purpose is to prevent the international transport and spread of disease and insects that could negatively affect plants or ecosystems. ISPM 15 affects all wood packaging material (pallets, crates, dunnages, etc.) requiring that they be debarked and then heat treated or fumigated with methyl bromide and stamped or branded,[1] with a mark of compliance. This mark of compliance is colloquially known as the “wheat stamp”. Products exempt from the ISPM 15 are made from alternative material, like paper, plastic or wood panel products (i.e. OSB, hardboard, and plywood). Customs Broker Fees & Destination Charges in Australia There’s tons of websites out there claiming to be the know-it-all for import questions concerning boats & yachts to Australia. Fortunately, we are not one of them. While we can recommend quite a few competent companies in Australia it is ultimately up to you to pick a customs partner in your home port. As is true for all facets of our business we believe that there are no shortcuts to sustained success in business (or life for that matter). That said we recommend that you seek the advice of an Australian Customs Broker who is licensed by the “Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia Inc” – CBFCA-Australia Website to inquire about recent legal and import changes pertaining to your planned import.
