The owner reports the varnished mahogany hull and interior to be in very good overall condition. It could use some minor detailing to get into pristine / bristol condition. The owner also reports the engine is ready to hit the water. No damage reported. Stock #380304 Restored 1948 Chris-Craft 17 Deluxe! MUST SEE!! Motivated Seller - ALL reasonable OFFERS will be considered! Here we have a beautifully-kept vintage 1948 Chris-Craft 17 Deluxe. Only a second-owner boat. The owner purchased it way back in 1967 and has kept it in his family ever since. An extensive overhaul / restoration was completed in the late 1990s. In 1992 they installed a Chevy 4.0L V6 engine (190 HP) The original engine was only 130 HP. Always stored on a trailer in a garage when not in use. The 17 Deluxe model is a famous one. It has 2 bench seats front and back, similar to classic cars. Seating for up to 6 to 7 people. With the boat only weighing 1805 lbs, the 190 HP engine makes this beauty glide on top of the water. The seller is motivated - All reasonable offers will be considered. ---Short History on Chris-Craft boats--- " The origins of the Chris Craft Company date back to the 1870s when Christopher Columbus Smith built his first wood skiff at age 13, later joining his brother to produce wood runabouts and forming the Smith Ryan Boat Company. In 1927, Chris Smith's son Jay took control of the company, changing the name to Chris Craft and for the next 31 years became the world's largest producer of mahogany runabout boats. During WW2, Chris Craft aided the war effort by building over 12,000 military vessels including patrol boats, launches, and rescue vessels for the US Navy. With the end of the war came prosperity for many and Chris Craft benefitted by supplying speed boats that became popular at lakes throughout the upper Midwest and Northeast. Utilizing manufacturing efficiencies learned in wartime, Chris Craft was able to expand its market to both middle-class and wealthy owners." Reason for selling is not enough time to use the boat.

The local and visiting consultant was really impressed having the opportunity to see this listing in person. The interior, cushion, bench seats were in very nice condition free from any wear or tears. The exterior was shiny, there are areas that could use some TLC with finish. The bottom and seams would be do for caulking and sanding. Stock #247172 Rare classic Chris Craft Capri. Original Thunderbolt engine, Mahogany Wood. Looking for a piece of history, 1955 Chris-Craft Capri 21, which is the rarer version than the smaller option that Chris-Craft built. The vessel is powered by the original engine MBL Inboard that produces 158HP. Direct drive with shaft and bronze propeller. The seller has set the price point almost half of what similar vessels in this age and size have been sold for. The seller understands this vessel will need some TLC to bring back to full glory. The vessel is equipped with the soaker hose that allows for water to be run through-out the hull to allow the wood planks to swell to give the watertight seal. The forward sport light will need to be re-installed but is present and the original. The seller advised due to the prep with the hull and this boat not been in the water for a few seasons. Can not include a water trial as part of the inspection. Also the ignition switch was vandalized and removed, so unable to turn over the engine, please be aware when submitting your offer. Reason for selling is not using at this time.

Up for sale is a 1950 Chris Craft Special Runabout. This boat is in great condition for its age, and would be a perfect boat for a complete restoration. This boat has all the original hardware, good windshield glass, good upholstery, and has a fully rebuilt motor. The motor is a model K Hercules 95HP, which as stated above, has been completely rebuilt. I have all the paperwork and receipts regarding the rebuild from the previous owners. The bottom was re-planked a few years ago by the previous owners as well, and I have all that paperwork for it. The hull is in great shape, there are two minor places of rot above the water line and will need to be addressed prior to splashing the boat. All of the brightwork would love to be refinished although it could be used as-is. The trailer you see in the pictures comes with the boat, it is old and tired but should get you home (within 100 miles) . If you're traveling from a far distance I wouldn't recommend trailering this boat home, although that decision is yours to make. The boat has a clean and clear title, the trailer will come with a bill of sale. I can deliver for a fee! Up to 100 miles, no more than that.
