1951 Chris-Craft Special Runabout This 1951 Chris Craft Special Runabout is truly a great find for the avid Classic Boat Enthusiast. The original "K" Chris Craft engine was refurbished in 2007. The 95 Horsepower really pushes this old beauty along very nicely. New upholstery, halon fire suppression system, electric fuel pump, electric bilge pump, electric bilge blower are among just a few of the recent additions made to the boat. Can be seen in Yorktown, VA.
Millville, New Jersey
Up for sale is a 1950 Chris Craft Special Runabout. This boat is in great condition for its age, and would be a perfect boat for a complete restoration. This boat has all the original hardware, good windshield glass, good upholstery, and has a fully rebuilt motor. The motor is a model K Hercules 95HP, which as stated above, has been completely rebuilt. I have all the paperwork and receipts regarding the rebuild from the previous owners. The bottom was re-planked a few years ago by the previous owners as well, and I have all that paperwork for it. The hull is in great shape, there are two minor places of rot above the water line and will need to be addressed prior to splashing the boat. All of the brightwork would love to be refinished although it could be used as-is. The trailer you see in the pictures comes with the boat, it is old and tired but should get you home (within 100 miles) . If you're traveling from a far distance I wouldn't recommend trailering this boat home, although that decision is yours to make. The boat has a clean and clear title, the trailer will come with a bill of sale. I can deliver for a fee! Up to 100 miles, no more than that.

The boat’s color is Chris Craft’s classic nautical blue and white with matching blue Bimini and canvas. We just installed brand new two-tone upholstery and infinity woven flooring throughout, including a custom removable bed for the rear section. The helm is stunning, with features like a captain’s chair wide enough for two to enjoy the ride. Conveniently located forward of the helm station, is the head. There is generous room in the head as well as a VacuFlush toilet and a vanity with sink. The combination of a wide 10 beam and large forward seating area provide exceptional levels of comfort with ample space for family and friends. This is available for purchase for an additional cost. This boat has been well cared for, serviced regularly (just last week) and has been stored indoors during the winter and run in fresh water. It was just buffed and waxed from hull sides down and all the teak was treated. We have thoroughly enjoyed this fantastic Launch 28, but we are moving into a larger boat. A great "Barn Find"! Here is a 1948 16' Chris-Craft Runabout Special "Rocket" that has been stored in a barn since 1996. The Special Runabout was not a runabout at all but a deluxe utility with a wide center deck that created a separate forward cockpit. Called the "Rocket" by Chris-Craft, these boats were nearly identical to the pre-war 16' Deluxe Runabouts which in turn were lengthened versions of the 1938 15-1/2' Deluxe Runabouts. The Rocket was offered varnished or painted, with choices of white, black, red and blue sides. The painted hull allowed Chris-Craft to use more readily available cedar. The boat is powered with a Chris-Craft "K" Serial Number 24768 6 cyl. engine. 1,040 were built from late 1945 through 1948. The trailer and cradle are included in the sale.
