The Chris-Craft Hercules flathead engines well maintained Interior wood has been refinished and is in very good condition. The Chris O Matic electro-hydraulic shifting system was removed and a lever rod and bell crank system was installed. The "Crash I matic" was an optional upgrade and proved to be a terrible system. This conversion was done by most owners. According to the seller, this made the boat one of the best slow-speed maneuvering boats he had ever driven given its large twin screws, engines with ample torque at idle, large twin rudders placed directly aft of the props and Paragon transmissions. She's very easy to maneuver in a crowded marina. Hull has been treated with high-tech polymers. She has a large sundeck and spacious salon and modern galley with granite countertop. The Constellation is on the hard and stored indoors making photographing the girl difficult. Reason for selling is no longer have time to enjoy.

During WW2, Chris Craft aided the war effort by building over 12,000 military vessels including patrol boats, launches, and rescue vessels for the US Navy. With the end of the war came prosperity for many and Chris Craft benefitted by supplying speed boats that became popular at lakes throughout the upper Midwest and Northeast. Utilizing manufacturing efficiencies learned in wartime, Chris Craft was able to expand its market to both middle-class and wealthy owners." Reason for selling is not enough time to use the boat.

1976 Chris Craft Convertible In one form or another, the Chris 42 Convertible enjoyed the longest production run of any modern Chris Craft design. She was introduced as the 42 Tournament Fisherman in 1974 and critics were impressed with her comfortably dry ride at 24-knot cruising speed with the new 425 hp GM 8V/1TI engines. She was built on a shallow dead-rise hull with a wide beam and a big fishing cockpit to go with her roomy two-state-room interior. The revised 421 model (1983-84) however, is mostly remembered for it's gaudy hull graphics and cheap interiors. Chris Craft redesigned the boat in 1985 (new house, enlarged flybridge, glassed-over windshield, teak interior, etc.)  with the introduction of the final 422 model, Throughout all the design changes, the basic two state-room layout was retained in one fashion or another. Retained too were the excellent seakeeping qualities that made her such a good performer. With either the original 425-hp 8V71's or the later 485-hp 6-71's, the Chris 42 is a reasonably quick boat for her size with a cruising speed of 24 knots and a top speed of 27 knots.
