I've lived on her last five years dockside, underway, on the hard, at anchor and sailing cruising often solo across 20,000 miles of ocean from Seattle down West Coast thru Hawaii into South Pacific & back to Hawaii. I had a two phase plan to refit, fix her up allowing me to enjoy cruising the Pacific Ocean and isles. I completed phase one but developed a condition two years past that now forces me to sell. An alternative to paying $150,000 for a similar in excellent condition or $80,000 with a running old engine worn and soon to fail or mandates a rebuild. Is to buy cheap get a great hull, good rigging & sail gear, anchoring system, versatile spacious interior to be used as is & continue remodeling or redo to your own liking while enjoying life aboard and/or sailing. Or an alternative housing scenario. That alternative is this. The 2010 survey put the boat at a $400,000 replacement cost, a $115,000 - $140,000 refit complete value and $85,000 market value. The prior owner needed a survey for bank loan and insurance. 2010 survey available upon request plus 2012 addendum.

2005 Macgregor 26 - The revolutionary unsinkable MacGregor 26 is the world's most unique trailerable sailboat. The Macgregor 26 is hybrid sailboat/motorboat, or "Motorsailor." Its design centers around a 50hp Honda outboard motor (as opposed to 10hp or less for a normal sailboat of this size) and a powerboat shaped hull. Consequently, it's a compromise of the two, neither a fast powerboat, nor a fast racing sailboat, but it allows the best of both worlds. As a sailboat it's a comfortable cruiser that can be easily handled by one person and sails nicely. As a powerboat it can easily achieve 15mph or more, depending on load, or even pull your kids on a tube. It's designed to be light so it can be easily towed and launched from its low trailer. It doesn't have a sailboat weighted keel. Instead, it has a retractable Swing Keel and for ballast it has a built in water tank that can be flooded by simply opening a valve, this will take on 1400lbs of water in about 5 minutes. For faster motoring, the water-ballast tank is emptied in about 5 minutes by motoring on a semi-plane and re-opening the valve and letting gravity do its work. With the swing keel retracted it has a draft of less than a foot, allowing it to go almost anywhere, and can even be beached, something impossible for a fixed keel sailboat. It offers great sailing or if you prefer Power boating, with a 50hp outboard, full standing headroom, and wheel steering. It sleeps six in three full-sized double berths. One is as large as a king-sized bed. There is a full galley and enclosed head. The 26 has a walk-through transom for easy boarding. A hinged steering seat swings down to close off the open transom for security. 1,400 pounds of water ballast provide the self-righting stability of a keel boat. The boat weighs 2,250 pounds empty, allowing high powering speed and easy towing behind standard cars. The 26 is just under 8 feet wide (beam) for legal towing everywhere. It is the easiest to ramp-launch and rig of any of the competing trailerable sailboats.

A very popular double ended full keel cutter rigged sailing vessel. Boat is well equipped and is in fair to good condition. The Hans Christian sailboat line has been extremely popular with cruisers since they came out in the mid 70’s. This vessel is #34 and offers a kindly motion while at sea and a solid feel with excellent storage for offshore provisions. Interior is finished with warmly varnished teak, heavy teak moldings & teak soles. Teak butterfly hatch opens for excellent ventilation in hot climates. All cats eye port holes open. Upholstery is in good condition. Deck fittings and several port lights need re-bedding to eliminate leaks. Bottom painting is needed, and some exterior varnishing. Heavy fiberglass hull is blister free and full rudder with bronze foot protects propeller & rudder in a grounding event. Pearson Ensign 22' - $8750 OBO (Mandeville) Year: 1965 Length: 23' Located In: Mandeville, La Hull Material: Fiberglass Heavy Duty Trailer Price: US$ 8,500 The Ensign sailboat is the largest class of full keel boats in North America. It was designed by Carl Alberg and built by Pearson Yachts of Portsmouth, Rhode Island who manufactured nearly 1800 boats from 1962 through 1983. Its popularity, rather than declining with the advent of very high performance boats, has been on a major upswing. The Ensign is 22 and 1/2 feet long, weighs about 3,000 pounds, has a draft of 3 feet. It is favored by former dinghy sailors and cruisers alike. It has no life lines and therefore can be sailed with many dingy tactics such as hiking and roll tacking. It is a comfortable day sailer with a large cockpit. The Ensign can be a great family boat for recreational sailing. Have mast and some sail. Needs a rub rail and top deck fittings. Have a British Silver Seagull outboard motor. It needs a coil.
