Selling my 1973 Islander sailboat! The Islander 36 was listed as one of Cruising World's Top 20 Sailboats, and Zac Sunderland just sailed one around the world. Sailing Magazine described the Islander 36 as "well balanced under sail, stiff and surprisingly fast." There is a big owners association and website. This is a great boat I use to go to Catalina Island in year around. I have endlessly gone through this boat an have redone many of the systems. USCG Documented Vessel - All fees up to date (NO DMV!)If your looking for a great boat that is easy to handle, this is your boat. Watch the videos…Me and my girlfriend can sail this in all weather, single handed is no problem either, just watch out for the Great Whites…they get hungry! So much to list I can't remember it all! There is a survey available that was completed before I bought the boat a little over two years ago. Please ask questions. Here are some Video Links:youtu.be/XxDRhoCOAg8youtu.be/Mkg_nQ-uUvgyoutu.be/n_4v6sx1aUEyoutu.be/_FMT3ejzAHo All the electrical has been completely fixed. I used a IBEW low voltage electrician to all the electrical work. New wire throughout the boat. It has four deep cycle marine batteries that are about 1 year old now. The cabin lighting has been changed to LED and the spreader lights are also LED. This was a lot of money to upgrade. There is a VHF Marine radio installed and a HF Marine Radio that needs an antenna(was researching a way to use the rear stay as an antenna (Just haven't figured it out). There is a Sony stereo connected to four Bose 151 speakers inside. Two outdoor Bose speakers are connected to a external amplifier that gives out plenty of sound to have a fun time. 20 inch Flat screen installed on swing mount. There is a 6 gallon Raritan water heater that connects to the Yanmar 3 cylinder diesel and can also be used on 120V shore power that heats up nicely in a short time. There is an electric head less than 3 months old that dumps into a holding tank (Avalon Harbor Rules). This system works great and can also be dumped while underway. Front "V" birth padding was redone last year and is still virtually new. This boat has a gas stove and oven that both work perfectly that are connected to two 3 gallon propane tanks with all electric shut off controls. In the last year of cooking for many trips I have only used 3 gallons! The holding tank is 10 gallons. The water tanks combined are about 50 - (Never was able to measure them) The diesel tank holds 11 gallons. Foot pump for using the ocean water to rinse items in the sink. Shower in the head with hot water plumbed. The engine is a '88 Yanmar 3GM30 diesel. Well maintained, starts every time with no issues at all! The boat has a Maxwell windlass, 33 lb Bruce anchor, mast-mounted spinnaker pole, Harken Roller Furling Wheel steering and (auto pilot)Autohelm 4000. Any questions please let me know…
This is a truly unique vessel. She has been fully restored and refitted. Boat is a must see. She comes rigged superior to many boats in her class with; separate spinnaker and jib tracks, retracting spinnaker pole. The running rigging is brought back to the cockpit for easy handling through line clutches and new harken winches (6 total). These are just a few of the features that make this an awesome vessel. A list of features of the boat is below, also if you have any questions feel free to email me and I will be happy to answer them. More pictures are available. Standing rigging and mast is new to the boat (2005) and engine is new (2010) 28hp Beta (marinized Kubota) The boat was in the water 2.5 years before I had to pull her out and store her on the hard to return to school. I began a process of retrofitting and improving some of her accessories having cruised her to the Chesapeake and back. Upgrades include diesel cabin heater, lengthened and reinforced companionway hatch, smaller engine box, electric anchor windlass. As projects go, one turned into another and I decided to strip the deck (then the hull) to repaint (paint was approaching 10 yrs old). Lots of sanding and fairing and the boat now is primed (545 epoxy primer) and faired smopoth ready for finish coat. Boat comes with a gallon of Awlcraft Royal Blue and Moondust (light beige) for the hull and deck which are the same colors the boat had on it. The boat is COMPLETE with ALL nuts and fasteners all in labeled bags with a diagram. The boat is disassembled and READY FOR PAINT and reassembly. This vessel continues to be a head turner and with a little diligent work will be back in the water by winter. The boat comes with a heavy duty cover in addition to the canopy pictured. These two things make all the difference when working in the Florida heat. Unfortunately my job has taken me to a place where no sailor wishes to go… a landlocked city, so the boat cannot accompany me and I am too far away to be able to finish her. As much as I hate to see her go, she has provided me some very fond memories and it’s time for her to go to a new home. Inquire with questions, more photos available. The Islander 28 was sailed 10 years in Lake Michigan by this owner and then was stored on the hard for two seasons. The owner indicates the boat is in fully sailable condition and needs some TLC from her next owner. The boat is in the process of being cleaned/detailed to show its classic beauty. The woodwork throughout the boat appears solid with good color and needs oiling, staining, spar. The standing rigging is shiny with age showing in some places. There is some wetness near the mast in the cabin which will need attention. Otherwise, decks, cabin floor, and cockpit appear solid without sagging. Halyards and sheets need a good soaking to clean up but appear intact. Seller indicates sails are in good shape and well cared for. We're told the Yanmar diesel has been reliable as is their fantastic reputation. Im not sure of the make of this sailboat, according to the HIN, it is Ocean Yachts Company, but I believe it is all there including mast and rigging, along with a JIB sail, rudder, seat cushions, boat bumper, bottom paint, engine mount. and I believe it to be an Islands 17, but not sure Comes with trailer and spare tire. She seems very sturdy and I don't think she leaks. There is no paperwork, but I can give you a notarized bill of sale. Would make a great project for someone. Delivery is available for a reasonable fee. Please look at all pics and email me with any questions, or call me at 941-204-4196

1972 Islander Yachts 40' MS DAUNTLESS was designed by Charlie Davis as a serious blue water cruiser / live aboard. Built in Costa Mesa California this hull/model became the Islander freeport 41'. It has the same heavy duty / thick hull as the Islander Freeport 41'. She is ketch rigged with a center cockpit, full keel, wineglass hull. The center cockpit separates the full beam master suite with ensuite head and shower from the galley/salon and huge V-birth with giant closet and ensuite head. Which provides great privacy. This Coast Guard documented vessel has heavy duty construction throughout (most notably the super thick hand laid fiberglass hull). Think SAFE & STURDY ! The Dauntless has all new wiring and pluming and is solid Burmese Teak throughout, the person I bought this boat from 3 years ago paid $50,000.00 for her and put over $60,000.00 into up-grades and maintenance. With a 13'2" Beam, thereis plenty of living space, great storage and a very generous engine room with excellent access. I have been living on Her for the last few years and love to day-sail her around North Coronado and back. I can single hand her and fly four sails at once, this is knowledge that I would be happy to share with you over a couple of lessons. I just purchased a new much larger yacht and need to find a new home for DAUNTLESS. This boat needs cosmetic work like paint, varnish, cushions, curtains, etc. The guy I bought the boat from put most of his money into making sure the mechanical and operating systems were in good order at all times. If you are not handy with a paint brush you might not want this boat. For the person with basic skills I have priced the boat to move quickly. This boat in better condition would sell for $60,000 to $90,000. For all of you StarWars fans out there this yacht is like the Millennium Falcon, she's not much to look at but she has it where it counts. I have sailed all over the place and entertained countless friends on whale watching trips and parties at A-1 Anchorage, Glorietta Bay and quite dinners with that special someone to huge raft-up parities and everything in-between. This boat is designed to be safe and comfortable. All systems have been installed for simplicity, safety and durability. The Dauntless can handle gail-force winds with a reefed main and storm jib, Dauntless will take more punishment than most crew members. She needs some TLC so this is a tremendous opportunity to own a seriously built blue water sailboat that can take you anywhere in the world you desire in safety and comfort. She makes a fabulous live-aboard (witch I have been doing for the last few years). I AM GOING TO MISS DAUNTLESS BUT HOPE TO LEAVE HER IN THE HANDS OF AN ENTHUSIASTIC NEW OWNER!
