1989 Luhrs 342 Convertible Introduced in 1986, the Luhrs Tournament 342 was an affordable,well-equipped flybridge convertible aimed at the market forfamily-oriented fishermen. Her modified-V hull, with 15 degreesof transom deadrise and a warped plane for quick acceleration, isa stable low-speed fishing platform although something of a stiffride in a chop. The cockpit is a little small for a 34-footer (a built-infish box and livewell were standard), and the absence of a transomdoor is notable. Belowdecks, the interior is hardly opulent, but itis well suited for leisurely weekend getaways. The original layoutincluded two staterooms, a deckhouse dinette, and oak woodwork.A much-revised floorplan was introduced in 1988 with a singlestateroom, a more open salon/galley arrangement, and an updateddecor with an absence of any wood. The boat also has a uniquecabin ventilation system with hidden air intakes located beneaththe forward bridge overhang.
