2003 Luhrs 40 Open "Dippin Deeper" is not your "ordinary" Luhrs 40' Open. She has been modified, customized, and upgraded constantly by a very maintenance-conscious owner. He realizes that there are sister-ships on the market for considerably less, but none that are anywhere near as well-kept and outfitted as "Dippin Deeper". Thousands upon thousands of dollars have been spent over the years to get her in the condition that she is currently in. She lacks for nothing, and is ready to go. She is powered by a pair of spotless Cummins 8.3 L 480hp engines with 1900 original hours (all services are up-to-date) which push her at any easy 25 knots cruise burning only 40 gph. The owner installed a pair of Vetus Marine engine vents to the hull-sides after he realized that the original cockpit vents were allowing considerable amounts of salt-spray into the engine room. Not only has this been greatly reduced, but so has the noise level in the cockpit and helm deck while underway, as well as the ambient air temperature in the engine room by 15-20 degrees. Huge improvement! Custom tackle storage now fills the spaces where the original vents were located. Very nicely done! Another huge custom improvement was the modification of the engine exhaust system. Before, the engine and exhaust noises were rather unpleasant to bear for the run offshore, but now captain and crew can speak at normal levels. One-of-a-kind! Some other notable upgrades include two vertical hand-rails located at either side of helm station (not offered by Luhrs- but CRUCIAL for safety), new blue LED hardtop, cockpit, and engine room lights, 8kw Koehler genset that was removed and completely refurbished in 2015 (see photos), custom hood built over the top of the genset to prevent corrosion, custom "Mike's Marine" canvas package for helm console, fighting chair, and tower, and so much more! "Dippin Deeper" is by far the cleanest well maintained 40 open on the market. Her wide beam, efficient cruise and agility along with a centerline helm make handling this boat a dream. Up for sale is a 1995 38 Luhrs Convertible with triple 350 Yamaha outboards. The motors are 2008 with around 1,800 hours. They have new ecm's updated with the flywheels. The flywheels are under warranty till 2019 and will be updated at no charge at every 400 hours. The center motor has a new power head in 2014 summer. Two of the lower units have been replaced with new ones this summer 2015. The motors were just serviced November 12, 2015 also had the bottom done at same time. I bought the boat from the original owner in April of 2013. I put the boat on dry land till end of November 2013. The boat has the original Koehler 9kw diesel with 798 hours. Was also just serviced and runs with no problems at all. I replaced all three AC systems at the end of July with 16,000 btu Webasto units. One is for the front two bed rooms. The second one is in the salon and kitchen. The last is for upstairs where you drive. I installed a fresh water flushing system that flush's the motors with out hooking up hoses that uses the water from the boat. So motors are always flushed after every trip out. I removed the old diesel engines and had three fuel tanks totaling 850 gallons installed in its place. Also have a diesel fuel tank that is 35 gallons which will run the generator for around 70 hours. Most of the boat was rewired when retro fit was done and the entire boat is accessible threw hatches. All lights have been changed over to LED lighting. The inside of boat has been almost completely redone including the tiger bamboo floors. The coach is new and is also has a queen fold out in coach. The boat has satellite TV, satellite internet, and satellite phone. There is 3 flat screen TVs with central dvd system. It has a 4 camera video surveillance system that record 7 days at a time. It has a new bow thruster that was installed in 2013. For electronics the boat is set up with a 4 kw radar, 1 kw chirp technology transducer, Garmin auto pilot system. For head units I have a 5212, 741xs touch screens up stairs. There is a 541s down stairs that is networked into system. There is also a freezer plate that I installed in rear compartment for those long trips when you need to keep stuff frozen. On the other side of door there is a 40 gallon live well. The deck has new teak which is a no maintenance flooring. The boat has been painted from top to bottom with awl grip paint and has been waxed on 11/12/15. All upholstery is new also izon glass is new. On the front of the boat there is a 1,500 lb davit that I installed to hold a 12 twin vee on it. The boat cruises at 38 mph and burns 65 gallons a hour which is around 500 mile radius top speed is almost 50 mph. The boat has so many options you really need to see it. This boat is ready for any trip and 100% ready to go. Please only serious buyers. Will consider smaller boat trades. Since the pictures the top mini tower has been removed and does not come with boat. It was removed to allow it to go under bridge with out it having to be opened.
