The Hull is constructed of single-planked wood with an external ballasted keel. The planks are secured with copper rivets. The deck is constructed of fiber-reinforced plastic over plywood. The Seller reports the sails to be either Crisp or in good condition, and the Mizzen has had some recent repairs. The Motor in this Mariner looks rough on the outside, but it's reported to run very well. Stock #397197 Great coastal cruiser or liveaboard for the the anxious shipwright looking for a classic sailing vessel This William Garden Designed Mariner 40 is an awesome wood-planked Ketch that was sailed a lot by its previous owners. At just over 40' in length, the Mariner has a forward stateroom with V-berth and a hanging locker. Just aft of that is the head with toilet, sink and shower, complete with 2 entrances. The Mariner originally came with a 120-gallon water capacity. In the Salon, the U-shaped dinette converts to nice sized berth for two, and the settee opposite pulls out for a quarter berth. There's also a quarter berth aft to starboard to give you a sleeping capacity of six. Another Hanging locker is under the Nav station. The Galley is well equipped with a propane stove/oven, microwave, and refrigerator. The engine onboard is the Perkins 50-hp diesel. The overall hull condition looks good for the age of the boat. There are a few minor blemishes expected on a boat of this age and it would benefit from a good polish job. The Mariner has always been in freshwater. The owner has maintenance records and confirmed that systems on the boat are functioning as expected. The cabin features of this boat were in amazing condition. The cabinets, walls, woodwork, appliances, and cabin upholstery were all clean. Tears, rips, chips, stains were not found in the interior spaces. There were no odors apparent and the headliners were clean and intact without stains. The owner confirms the cabin is dry and there are no leaks. The exterior of the boat shows normal wear and tear. The gel coat has been recently buffed and shines nicely for its age. There are some chips near the stern which need attention. The upholstery on the bridge is sun damaged and will need to be replaced. With updated upholstery, the bridge with its expansive seating, will be a spacious and amazing experience for everyone onboard. Several Isinglass panels will need to be replaced if the new owner prefers an enclosed bridge, but removing the canvas and using covers for the seats, once reupholstered, may be a better choice for the new owners.
