The seller owns a boathouse where they repair and restore yachts. This Stephens is in excellent condition. The bones and hull are in great condition. It would be a surprise to find any issues during a survey. The owner has has the boat inspected every year. Per the seller: The horn is in the process of being replaced. Stock #275080 1947 Stephens 38' Sedan powered with Twin Ford Interceptors Oak frame hull with cedar construction. The deck is plywood fiberglassed with non-skid. The cockpit deck is mahogany. Entering the salon from a port side mahogany door places you in a comfortable salon area with a couch/hide-a-bed. The rich varnished interior is very bright with large windows providing passengers and helmsman with good 360-degree visibility. With the helm station to the port and chart table to the starboard, the open companionway down to the galley lies in the center. A large booth-style table to port with bench seating and galley to starboard provides a cozy and comfortable area for meals. Forward is a large head to starboard with the owner's cabin in the bow. All these areas have lots of storage cabinets and are clean and convenient. A large rear open deck/cockpit has seating front and back with more storage under the seats. She has received Best of Show and Peoples Choice at the Toledo Antique and Classic Boat Show and the grand finale was receiving BEST PRESERVED CRUISER in Table Rock, MO at the Annual International Show hosted by The Antique and Classic Boat Society - ACBS the Grand-Daddy of the Wooden and Classic boat shows. These awards are only given to boats at the pinnacle of the condition ladder. Therefore, condition speaks for itself. Most recently, she has had new OEM aluminum fuel tanks installed and an aft seat installed and crafted to OEM drawings, which was an option back in 1948. Her interior is still in immaculate condition and everything functions properly. David Van Ness rebuilt the engine and drivetrain to original factory specs - 135 HP Chrysler Crown 6 Cylinder Engine and Paragon Transmission. This is a project boat, for someone who appreciates antique and classic boats. Some of the restoration has been completed, but much needs to be redone now. Port side is more restored, starboard side is raw. Top side is painted with the same paint. Engines were run 4 years ago. They turn over but haven't been fired. Stock #339085 Classic 1937 Chris Craft 40, Twin Red Wing Meteor Engines, Double Planked 3/4" Mahogany Hull and Decks. This Classic Beauty is Ready to be Restored! 1937 Chris Craft 898 Sedan Cruiser is a very cool vessel. The seller has had it since 1989, they put her in Northern MN on their freshwater lake chain. They also purchased an Alogonac Boat Hoist so they could bring the boat to their property. They dredged a slip for the boat, installed the hoist and have enjoyed using the boat both for pleasure cruises and a spare cabin for weekend guests. Some of their favorite activities were sleeping on her under the trees, cruising on her on the lake, and just drifting in the wind. Their kids loved climbing up on top of the cabin and jumping off into the lake. It has a galley, front berth with bunk beds, a head, and an aft cabin with a fullish-size bed.
