Classic Hard to find, 1979 Boston Whaler 5.2 Harpoon day sailor with optional removable cuddy, Unsinkable! New Continental trailer! bought a few years ago but never put in water. Main & Jib Sails are in very good condition..comes with a 3.5hp outboard motor and full boat cover. The boat needs a little TLC.. See photos of rub rail, is broken in a few places. Needs new seats. I was going to replace the mahogany seats but never got around to it. (I still have the originals which will go with the boat) The hull is in good condition but needs compounding . When I bought the boat the hull had some barnacle damage, which damaged the gel coat, this has since been repaired. This is a fast fun boat and can be sailed easily by one person! Stunningly restored 1977 Boston Whaler Harpoon 5.2. So much care and pride has been given to this classic. These boats were all designed by the C&C YACHTS for Boston Whaler and built by Boston Whaler at their Norwell, Ma. facility. The unsinkable hull consisted of foam sandwich construction and was made with the daysailer and families in mind, very safe and extremely stable.Solid Mahogany and Teak custom seating, stainless hardware throughout, anchor locker, full cuddy for storage or just to get out of the weather. Retractable keel. Original North sails in good condition both main and jib with all running rigging and sheets. This is a great boat. The reason I am selling it is that I have bought a larger Cape Dory. The boat is a 1982 Boston Whaler Harpoon 6.2. It has it's own trailer. It sails great. Last sailed March 2015. It has two sets of sails, The hull is in great shape. . The following information and pictures were assembled from an original brochures nod photo taken by me of the boat. Boston Whaler made only 150 Harpoon 6.2's. Considering the extremely high standard of workmanship that went into all Harpoon boats, I would not be surprise if most, if not all of these unique boats, are still sailing the seas. I will deliver it for $1.50 per mile. The trailer is in very good condition and has good tires. You can call me by request. This is truly one great boat and is in the top 50 of the 150 made. The photo of my dad is with my new Cape dory . The boat is unsinkable and come with a few life jackets , motor, gas tank, battery, anchor , and 100 feet of anchor rope. A great opportunity to get into the sport of sailing with the perfect starter boat. The 5.2 is about 17 feet long and about 7 feet wide which makes it a comfortable stable boat. It has a simple set up, easy to rig and get ripping. Performs well in a variety of conditions. The Boston Whaler unsinkable brand is highly desired and the sailboats are rare and hard to find. I am selling my 1978 Boston Whaler Harpoon with trailer. It has recently seen a thorough refit. Within the last 12 months the cockpit of the boat has been fully stripped and sanded followed by 3 coats of Interlux Pre Kote (INT-4279). New Non Skid was also applied to all surfaces in the form of Interlux Intergrip. The final coat of paint was professionally sprayed at a body shop with two coats of Interlux Brightside White Y4359. The Transom was also repainted with Interlux in "Ocean Blue" Y4253. The transom looks amazing and is ready for a name of your choice to be added. The paint on this boat is top notch and is evident at first glance. All of the woodwork was redone as well at the same time. As you research these boats you will find a variety of configurations and materials used as the seats have been redone. In this case no expense was spared and solid Uruguayan Pink Eucalyptus was used. Not an inch of plywood is found on this boat. Also you will notice that the slat format for the seat tops is not only a much more aesthetically pleasing design but much more labor intensive. The wood was stained with a Mahogany stain and finished with 7 meticulous coats of Interlux YVA502 Compass Clear. The Boston Whaler decals on the cuddy were also replaced after painting. The hull has never been painted. It has been polished and waxed at the beginning and end of the season but could honestly use one more thorough polish to remove some haze. I cannot emphasize what attention to detail was given in the materials and time used in the rehab of this boat. The trailer itself is the original Dilly brand tilt trailer with tires in great condition as well as a spare. The mast crutches are also made of hardwood which was refinished in the same way as the seats. The rails on the trailer have been recently resurfaced and an extra winch strap is included. I have trailered this boat over 400 miles with no issues. The engine on this boat is a 5HP Nissan NS5B longshaft that has been winterized properly and runs like a top.The boat also has balers replaced 3 seasons ago and brand new standing rigging. The running rigging is not new but is in good shape. When it comes to the rigging again everything is top quality with Harken blocks and beautiful stainless steel shackles and snap shackles. There is over 500.00 spent alone on new snap shackles this season. The sails are in good shape but are the only thing on the boat that hasn't been replaced or overhauled. They work fine but are somewhat wrinkled however they are without stains or tears with plenty of snap left to them. The boat is currently garaged. Located in Louisville KY this boat is a short drive from most places. Delivery or meeting halfway could be discussed as well.
