1989 Catalina 34 Tall Rig - Wing Keel
The Catalina 34 provides speed under sail, with a blend of easy handling, spacious accommodations, and fin keel performance. Frank Butler designed a great boat for weekend sailing, coastal cruising and club racing, with a spacious two stateroom layout with queen size aft berth, wide modern main salon and roomy cockpit. She sleeps 7 comfortably and provides 6’2” headroom below. The combination of tall rig, wing keel and 11 ft. 8 in. beam produces the good performance of modern designs with low heeling angles and a typical base PHRF rating of 150. In 1989, Catalina switched to the more rugged keel stepped mast, with less stress on deck members. This closed-stern version provides more storage and safer seating than found in walk through designs.
This Catalina 34, located in Bridgeport, CT has been well maintained, with lovely teak trim, near new main sail, continual upgrades of the electrical and mechanical systems. She is a well equipped, two couples boat, and her under 4 ft.draft allows more anchoring options and less risk when exploring new areas.
