This Australian Square Metre's restoration in 2006 / 2007 cost around $100k to complete. She's in great condition and is super fun to sail. As you can see in the photos, she's protected by a full cover too. The Boat cover was just replaced May of 2020. Stock #177855 She has had her hull re-planked with mahogany and the new ribs are laminated with purple heart. Her engine and interior were removed. Originally built in the 1940s, The exact provenance of this Australian Square Metre is unknown. As she's had several owners through the years and traveled to several locations. Even though the Australian 30 Square Metre class of boats were built as harbor racers, they are said to perform best in heavy blows and choppy seas. She's a 30 Square Meter Yacht which was converted into a motorized cruising yacht in the 1960s. In 2005 she was shipped to San Diego where she underwent a full restoration. In order to restore her to her racing roots, the mechanical systems were removed to return her to her original condition, with no mechanical propulsion. Update as of May 2020. The Brightwork has been varnished and the boat is looking great. A few more updated interior photos have been added to the gallery.

We're told by the owner it's a strong-running Tohatsu 6HP 4-stroke outboard that will get you around with ease. Twin 6-gallon portable fuel tanks will keep you on the water for days. This boat is the perfect size for a day on the lake with your family. Has room for 4 adults in the cockpit. Sleeps 2 people in the cabin and has a porta-potty in the cabin. This boat is a very stable sailboat. The wide beam and shape of the hull make this one so stable. This is also easy for one person to sail. To set up after putting in the water only takes 15 minutes. The mast is already attached-all you do is pop it up and raise the sail. The boat features a 2008 Tohatsu 6 HP 4-stroke outboard tiller motor. The cabin has 2 ports and a porta-potty. Aft seating for 6. VHF marine radio and antenna. 12-volt battery. Cushions inside and cockpit cushions. Best of all, the SunCat sails really well. It is also very stable and moves easily into a choppy sea. The trailer is in good condition with a single axle and easy to trailer. Reason for selling is moving on to something else.
