There are very few small inboard fishing boats being built these days, so the introduction of the Luhrs 28 Open in 2005 came as good news for offshore anglers who prefer the reliability of inboard power.
With her handsome lines and expansive cockpit, the 28 offers an impressive mix of fishing and family-friendly features. For openers, a broad 11-foot, 6-inch beam makes this a big 28-footer allowing the well-appointed interior to provide the comfort and versatility of a somewhat larger boat.
Seat backrests convert to pipe berths to accommodate a crew of four, and overhead racks can store up to eight rods.
The full-feature cockpit of the 28 Open comes equipped with a transom fish box, insulated livewell to port, and bait-prep center with cutting board and tackle drawers. The bridge deck lifts for access to electrical panel, fuel tanks, and the engines.
Additional features include fresh and saltwater washdowns, cockpit lazarette with rudder and pump access, and space at the helm for electronics.
Built on a modified deep-V hull with a solid fiberglass bottom Yanmar 240 hp diesels cruise at 24 knots. With 250 gallons of fuel, this boat has outstanding range.

This vessel is fully rigged for offshore fishing with a tower, state of the art electronics and safety equipment to meet or exceed USCG requirements. She sleeps four with 2 convertible bunks Port & and 2 convertible bunks to Starboard that can comfortably sleep 4 adults. The galley area is Aft and to Starboard. The head is in the Forepeak and is equipped with a shower.
The helm deck is spacious and is equipped with a swivel captain's chair and side benches for guests. The entire bridge deck lifts for access to the engines.
