1973 Lyman Sportsman, I'm going to retire from diving, so the Reef Rat is up for sale. It's a great fishing and diving boat that I have used and enjoyed for the last 34 years. I have equipped it with a large custom made fish cooler that snuggles behind the engine box so as to make a large flat area covered with cushions. My divers often lay on it on the way back in. The top is convertible from the normal down position with side curtains into a bimini top for cool running and easy getting around when the weather is nice. It is modified somewhat from the factory configuration. I removed the teak rails from the sides since they got in the way of divers exiting the boat but still have them if a new owner wants them back on. A hatch has been added in the back deck to store dive gear in the transom. There is a wet/dry well in front of the engine compartment that is great for storage or holding lobster. There are dive tank racks along each side that hold 12 tanks. The cabin has lots of storage area and I have added hammock like slings for gear, life jackets, and equipment storage. This boat was professionally refinished in 2006 with repairs to the deck and liner and a complete paint job with the best PPG Concept Acrylic Urethane paint. It has been transported on a 1973 Float-On trailer since I bought it, so it has not had any barnacles or other issues with in-water storage. Launch and retrieval are quick and easy with this trailer. The engine was replaced twice in the time I have owned it with 2006 being the last time. It runs great and does not burn any oil. The transmission was replaced in 2009 when the oil cooler leaked and let salt water into the transmission. It comes equipped with a Lowrance HDS8 gen2 GPS Chartplotter and sounder combo with Structure Scan. It also has Teleflex SeaStar hydraulic steering with a Raymarine S1000 autopilot with remote controller. The AP interfaces with the GPS to run you right to the spot or back to the inlet. Bennett trim tabs keep it well trimmed. The VHF radio also has GPS for a backup. It's also a great boat for pulling water skiiers and wakeboarders and the dive platform with ladder makes for easy entry and exit both in the water and on the trailer.
