Introduced in 2005, the 28 was specifically designed for the then-new heavyweight fourstroke outboards. Out of production in 2009, she was reintroduced in 2012 as the Southport 29 when the company came under new ownership. Standard features include an integrated post with aftfacing seats and 45-gallon livewell, transom baitbox, console head compartment with rod storage, bow locker (for anchor windlass), cockpit bolsters, transom rigging station with sink, in-deck fish box (aft), trim tabs, gunnel rod holders, console head compartment with lockable rod storage, cockpit rod storage, fresh/rawwater  washdowns, and recessed bow rails. The insulated 157-gallon coffin box (with macerator) forward of the console doubles as a sun pad, and the rigging area is lighted by red LED lights for nighttime fishing.
