For many, owning a pontoon is just about getting out on the water, and for $19986.00 with the MERCURY OPTIMAX 90, this package won?t bust the family budget.With Godfrey?s legacy of making high-end pontoons, the builder can?t really bring itself to build an inferior product. So the Sweetwater is built using many of the same techniques as the company?s more vaunted brands. The 2086 even has the NextWave electrical system, which uses automotive-style plug?n? play Deutsch connectors. The RED outer color scheme has tasteful accents, and medium brown, patterned carpet hides dirt and wet footprints well.Sweetwater uses GX48 expanded vinyl on all the upholstery, the same as on the higher-end Aqua Patio brand. Unlike some other value brands that have seat bottoms you have to entirely remove to access storage, the 2086 has hinged storage compartment lids that reveal rotomolded liners. This boat has an L-lounge amidships, twin casting chairs out back and twin casting chairs up front, and other piscatorial amenities. Three entryways make it easy to board, and the aluminum boarding ladder has large swimming pool-style grabrails.The helm is very compact and simple with just a tachometer, a trim gauge and a few accessory rocker switches and breakers, along with a Jensen two-speaker stereo. Powered by Mercury's High Thrust Optimax two-stroke, the 2086 reaches plane in just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 20.2 miles per hour. Not really fast enough to blow off a hat, but leisurely cruising is what the Tuscany Series is all about.
