In 1985, Foreigner was topping the charts with their smash hit "I Want to Know What Love Is". Gulfstar answered the question. They built the 49 MY. They truly knew what love "is". They were both a smash hit!

The engines were repowered in 2002 from original Perkins to Cummins 480-CE 8.3 liter turbo charged electronically controlled 4 stroke engines.
The CUMMINS engines upgrade the power and increase the speed capability of this 49MY to 20 knots.
In addition, because the engines are electronically controlled, they are compatible with the NEMA 2000 Backbone installed in 2016. Engine parameters can be displayed on either of the two SIMRAD MFDs on the flybridge (NSS-EVO2-12" and GO7-XSE)
