1890 Elmore Sanborn Tug
Own a piece of Puget Sound history. The Elmore has been a NW resident since 1890, with many different tasks and roles in its history.
The tug was originally built as a coastwise passenger vessel for the Oregon coast, running from Astoria south to Tillamook.
Her original engine was steam powered.
In 1905 she was converted to a tugboat.
She was extensively rebuilt in 1922, 1950, and 1970.
A fire in 1922 consumed the superstructure and a new structure was built. In 1980 the "Elmore" was retired from active service from the Puget Sound Tug & Barge Co.
