1997 Harris FloteBote Legend The interior of the Legend has a lot to like, starting with the waterproof dash. It can be hosed down without damage to switches, according to Harris-Kayot. All switches have push-button breakers situated right next to them. The stainless-steel wheel tilts for standing or sitting operation, but I found the 26-inch distance from the seat base to the foot rest a bit tight when sitting. One feature that will sell a lot of these boats to families is the bathroom compartment tucked inside the console. The space in there is snug (44-by-40-by-51-inches), but it is enough to provide the necessary privacy. It's a better arrangement than the fold-out stalls provided on some deck-style boats, because it's always available. The galley area includes a pump-type sink connected to a 5-gallon freshwater tank, a cutting board, under-sink storage area and a compartment where the ice chest stows out of sight but within easy reach. The dining table sets into a socket in the bow, with seating on two wrap-around couches. The largest seating area is a wrap-around couch that extends from the back of the boat to the middle of the deck. All of the seats feature plastic-encapsulated foam, so that they don't soak up water, and the upholstery is stitched with Dacron. The seats are rot-proof and should keep the vinyl trim looking new for years. The seat bases are fiberglass rather than wood as in some other deck-style boats, again promising years of service. The rear section of the cockpit seat is part of the engine hatch, and the whole thing tilts forward when you release the three stainless-steel latches, revealing the entire engine for easy belt changes, oil check, etc. The cover is fairly heavy, but it's not difficult for one person to tilt. Plenty of storage There's abundant storage throughout the boat, with the largest area under the longest couch. The space is long enough to store fishing poles. There's added space under each bow couch and a 21-by-14 1/2 -by-11-inch anchor locker in the bow. The locker has an overboard drain, so muddy water
