Up for sale is a 21.5' 1988 Four Winns Sundowner 215 powered with a Chevy V8, 5.0L engine. Overall for the year the boat is in good condition. I've owned the boat for the last 4 years or so. This is my first boat and I absolutely cherished it. It has an OMC Cobra 5.0 outdrive with probably less than 20 hours on it which was purchased new from Crowley Marine ($3800 for the drive alone). Since replacing it I've regularly checked and maintained the drive, using only OMC synthetic gear oil. It also has a brand new prop (14.5 X 19) along with 2 spare props. Additionally, I replaced the drive belts, alternator, starter solenoid, ignition coil, plugs, horn, and the bow/stern lights. It comes with two newer batteries. The oil pressure, voltage, temperature and gas gauge all work although I do question the complete accuracy of the gas gauge. The trim/tilt gauge doesn't work but it's not something I really ever had a need for. It also has a good working CB radio, an AM/FM/CD player, a Garmin GPS/Fishfinder, built in cooler, bumpers, ropes, life vests, tow line and tube. It has a cockpit canvas cover that has a lot of wear. It can be used but I wouldn't recommend as my primary. I also have a complete camper top that came with it. The pop up bimini cover is in really good condition. The interior is all original from what I know. There are no major tears in any of the seat cushions - there is a small cut on one side panel that can be sealed off very easily. The carpet is worn but nothing that's so bad I thought to replace. I also re-wrapped the cushions in the cabin and have a porta potty that fits under the removable cushions. All of the teak throughout the cabin and swim platform is in really good condition - I usually give it a really light sand or scrub and apply some teak oil and it shines up nicely. The EZ load trailer is a 1987. It gets the job done but could definitely use some maintenance. The brake lines are not connected and I would recommend having the U bolts on the leaf springs checked if you plan on towing on long trips. The things I would note on the boat that I know of are as follows: there is a slight cut in the line that feeds the trim tilt fluid to the outdrive. I never replaced the line because I found that some good tape at the beginning of the season and a fluid top off here and there was enough to get by for a season. The trim tilt works fine otherwise but something you'll want to monitor or replace if you choose. While this is definitely an older boat, for someone looking for their first boat or a mid-sized boat to drive around the river, lake or even the LI sound, you really can't go wrong with this boat. It's a solid boat with a deep v-hull that gets through chop easily. We've had 6 people on the boat many times and have driven from Portland to Essex with ease. It easily cruises at 3000-3500 RPMs and does about 30-35 knots. Boat and trailer are both registered and trailer title is in hand. For those wondering about towing, I'd estimate it to weigh approximately 4000 lbs. If necessary, I can deliver within reason (20-30 miles). Up for sale is a 1988 Four Winns Sundowner 215 powered with a Chevy V8, 5.0L. Overall for the year the boat is in good condition. I will do my absolute best to detail out the good and the bad so that you, as a buyer, know exactly what you are getting. I've owned the boat for the last 4 years or so. This is my first boat and I absolutely cherished it. I learned maintenance is key the hard way, specifically on the outdrive. I failed to check the upper gear case on my first drive of my second season with the boat. Needless to say it was out of gear oil and I ended up replacing the entire drive (easily $5,000 in parts and labor). So the boat now has an OMC Cobra 5.0 outdrive with probably less than 20 hours on it. Since replacing it I've regularly checked and maintained the drive, using only OMC synthetic gear oil for complete lube changes. It also has a brand new prop (14.5 X 19) along with spare props. Additionally, I replaced the drive belts, alternator, starter solenoid, ignition coil, plugs, oil filter, regular oil changes, horn, 2 newer batteries and the bow/stern lights. The oil pressure, voltage, temperature and gas gauge all work although I do question the complete accuracy of the gas gauge. The trim/tilt gauge doesn't work but it's not something I really ever had a need for. It also has a good working CB radio, an AM/FM/CD player, a Garmin GPS/Fishfinder, bumpers, ropes and lifejackets. It has a cockpit canvas cover that has a lot of wear. It can be used but I wouldn't recommend as my primary. I typically throw a complete boat cover on top of it. It has two bows' that set in place to give the cover an arch to deflect rain/snow. I also have a complete camper top that came with it. When I first looked at the boat, the guy I bought it from had this camper top on the boat and it looked really good. I've never installed it myself since owning it but I assume it's all there and still fully functional. The pop up bimini cover is in really good condition. The interior is all original. There are no major tears in any of the seat cushions - there is a small cut on one side panel that can be sealed off very easily. The carpet is worn but nothing that's so bad I thought to replace (I'd also note that there are no soft spots in the floor -- oftentimes with older boats the subfloor will start to give out and that's not the case here). I also rewrapped the cushions in the cabin. The EZ load trailer is a 1987. It gets the job done but could use some maintenance. The things I would call out that I know of that require some attention are as follows: there is a slash in the line that feeds the trim tilt fluid to the outdrive. I never replaced the line because I found that some good tape at the beginning of the season and a fluid top off here and there was enough to get by for a season. The trim tilt works fine otherwise but something you'll want to monitor or replace if you choose. I also think there's likely a small engine oil leak. After multiple outings I'll notice the water in my bilge is a bit murky and will flush it out. It's not something I often worry about but do keep a close eye on the oil levels and just top off as needed. While this is definitely an older boat, for someone looking for their first boat or a mid-sized boat to drive around the river, lake or even the LI sound, you really can't go wrong with this boat. It's a solid boat that gets through chop easily. We've had 6 people on the boat many times and have driven from Portland to Essex with ease. It easily cruises at 3000-3500 RPMs and does about 30-35 knots. I will try to post better exterior shots once some boats clear around me. Feel free to write with questions. Thanks
