1987 Hatteras Double Cabin This 40 Hatteras Double Cabin spent most of its life on Lake Michigan. Its Crusader engines have 882 hours (port) and significantly less on the starboard, replaced prior to 1995 when the current (and second) owner purchased the Hatt. The hull bottom was soda blasted and cutlass bearings replaced. 4 years ago. A full set of documentation details regular maintenance and upgrades over time, along with original Owners Manuals and blueprints. Accompanying the R&R is an Avon 310 RIB dinghy with a Mercury 4-stroke engine, along with many spares. The 40DC represented the last of the small Hatts with the same craftsmanship associated with todays Hatteras, at a fraction of the cost. This ship features a full height glass entry door as a major upgrade patterned after the Series II 40DC versions introduced in 1990. The spacious main cabin furniture was upgraded with a color-coordinated leather sofa (with large storage compartments), barrel chair and stools made by Hatteras OEM furniture manufacturer. Valances in aft stateroom and main cabin were recovered with that same leather. The 40 Motor Yacht(called the 40 Double Cabin until 1993) is a conservative aftcabinyacht originally conceived for export to the European market.Shes built on a modified-V hull with a solid fiberglass bottom, andunlike most previous Hatteras hull designs, shallow prop pocketswere used to reduce the draft and shaft angle. Several two-stateroomfloorplans were offered during her production years, all arrangedwith the galley down and all featuring a spacious aft stateroomand a small foreword stateroom. Of the two (A new full-heightentry door to the salon was added at the same time.)
