The hull got onto plane with little bow rise, and the 21-degree transom deadrise provided plenty of vee to slice the seas. Accelerating to a 4000 rpm cruise, we were travelling at 31.8 knots. With the throttles pushed forward, the twin outboards top out at 5300 rpm and produce a speed of 41.9 knots. That's plenty fast for a boat of this size. The 3070's size really becomes apparent when you step into the cockpit. Maximum fishing room is the theme here, with everything laid out in an orderly and logical manner. Take the integrated transom bulkhead, for example. It features an inward-opening transom gate to port, plus a 44-gallon live well in the center. There's also a Corian cutting board and a fresh water sink, and our test boat featured Pursuit's optional refrigerated bait drawers beneath the cutting board. These drawers keep baits chilled and fresh, and even feature a drain valve you can close to keep cold air from flowing out. A huge (five feet wide) transverse fishbox in the deck is pitched aft so all the mess can drain through a macerator that pumps it overboard. Moving forward, a well-designed rocket launcher/ leaning post contains five slide-out tackle trays and three large tackle drawers. A rigging tray and drink holders sit on top of the unit. The boat's batteries are located under the front of the leaning post, and the helmsman sits atop a very cool power-adjustable bench seat. The ergonomically designed helm features lots of room for electronics, and is surrounded by a large, sleek, acrylic windshield. This may be one tough fishing machine, but it's also rigged for comfort and style. The sub-console head compartment has lots of room, along with a Vacu-Flush head, a pressurized fresh water sink, a hanging locker and extra storage.
