1979 Shannon 38 MOTIVATED SELLER HAS REDUCED BY $5 000 ALREADY! Shannon's reputation for producing top quality ocean voyaging boats is legendary, especially when considering their earlier builds.  Evans and Beth Leonard who are known for their cruising writing and voyages on Hawk, did their first circumnavigation on a Shannon 38. It is a go anywhere boat, though reversing under power is not its greatest strength. Enhancer is a pretty basic boat whose bones are good, but will need the investment of some money to bring her shine back. Lots of sails and equipment convey, but elbow grease for brightwork, cleaning, some modern electronics (if you wish) and some systems fixes will be necessary.  If your total budget is in the 40's you can purchase this boat and use her today for near coastal and bay sailing. If your plans are for longer distance and ocean voyaging, your budget probably needs to be double. A survey done in November 2015 reported some areas of elevated moisture content in he bow areas of the topsides, in the rudder, in the cockpit floor, around the chain-plate knees inside the cabin and a few areas on the cabin top. No delamination was reported and re-bedding of fittings was the recommended fix in most cases. The equipment reflected in the listing is based on the owner's list and a 2015 survey report. Independent verification via inspection and a marine survey is strongly recommended.
