1971 Tartan 34C The Tartan 34c is a true S&S designed classic. From 1967-78, 525 hulls were produced. In 1968 she won her class in the Southern Ocean Racing Circuit and then again in the Port Huron-Mackinac Race, followed by the Marblehead-Halifax Race. In fact, to this day they are still winning in club competitions all over. Besides Olin and Rod Stephens, the deck was developed by Gerhard Gilgenast, German Frers Jr. and Francis Kinney. Production came to an end when the factory burned down and molds were destroyed. This led to the newly organized Tartan Marine where production resumed. The 34c’s cruising prowess has been fully realized as the design has been sailed single-handed around the world - across the Pacific to Hawaii, around the Horn of South Africa - not to mention numerous other passages. Today she is considered to be a moderately heavy keel-centerboard sloop with graceful overhangs, wide side decks, a long 8' cockpit and moderate sail plan. Olin Stephens referred to her as a "masterpiece", as everything seems to work well. She sleeps up to six in a cabin trimmed in teak with 6' 2" headroom. The galley is starboard of the companionway with good storage and cooler accessible from the cockpit as well. There's a nav station to port forward of the quarterberth. The port settee will open to a double, and the starboard sette is a single with good storage above both. The table is custom made oak fixed in place and has leaves. She is very easy to single-hand as the jib sheet winches and mainsheet are positioned near the helm. Wings of the Morning, hull number 107, has been upgraded over the years and so shows like a much newer boat. The hull and decks have been painted with Awl-Grip. The interior has been rebuilt with planked ceilings and overhead. The galley has been completely rebuilt and upgraded with tile and custom cabinetry. The companionway ladder is custom built. There is new electrical wiring and panels and the rudder is new. She has a professionally rebuilt engine with new complete exhaust system, new engine fuel pump, carburetor, alternator and water pump. There is a new fuel tank and galvanic isolator. The bottom has been epoxy-coated. The mainsail has been overhauled. There is a Harken traveler and mainsheet system with 8 to 1 purchase. She has new electronics, a new swim ladder, a new Bomar hatch amidships, new safety lines, new Harken roller furling, and new halyards and sheets. The dual bilge pumps are new. The head compartment needs some work completed on the cabinetry and there is no fresh water system or tank. The exterior bright work will need attention. The bottom half of the centerboard is broken off - a new one is estimated at $1500 new from Tartan. Wings Of The Morning is here on the hard and ready to be seen today!

2001 Tartan 3700 This FRESH WATER Tartan 3700 has it all. Dark Blue Hull Painted by Tartan Marine, Dockside Convenience Package, Premium Deck Package and the Luxury Interior Package.    The Tim Jackett designed Tartan 3700 combines the best of many design features to provide a stable, yet fast, platform that is both sprightly in light airs, partially due to her generous sail plan, yet still stiff and powerful in a breeze due to innovative keel and hull design. The generous beam provided for not only allows for a spacious fold away swim platform aft but also creates much more living space below and in her cockpit than the majority of yachts in her size range. Combine this with a high quality of build throughout and an emphasis on an airy interior with plenty of built in storage and you have an exceptional performance cruiser equally at home on a family weekend as she is on an offshore passage.

1988 Tartan 3000 This 1988 Tartan 3000 is a lot of boat for a 30 footer and a lot of boat for under $20K. In 1980 Tartan asked Sparkman & Stephens to design a new 30 footer. What was needed was a yacht that would replace the very successful Tartan 30. In addition, the new design had to retain the positive qualities of its predecessor, and at the same time, incorporate advances in the hull shape, appendage design, and construction material and systems. Sparkman & Stephens solution to this challenge was the Tartan 3000. It weighed 1,000 lbs. less than the 30, and carries about the same size rig. The lines of the 3000 are very much in keeping with contemporary thinking, reflecting what was learned over the years since the 30 was designed. She has been lightly used over the last 8 years since the current owner purchased her. She is located in Hessel, MI and available to be seen by appointment.

1974 Tartan Atomic 4 The Tartan 30 is a classic Sparkman & Stephens design. Unencumbered is a high performance, off-shore racing and cruising boat. She has a skeg hung rudder, which helps the boat track better in a quartering or following sea and adds protection of the rudder in a grounding situation. This boat has the aft galley, not the starboard side galley. The genoa and roller furling were new in 2000. The cover for the genoa was replaced in 2009. She is equipped with almost all of the electronics needed to sail her most anywhere, including an autopilot. She has the tried and true Atomic 4 gasoline inboard which runs great. She is in about average condition for her age but will need some cosmetic work inside and out, to make her shine. This is a lot of boat for the money. Let Unencumbered sail you far away!
