1987 Weldcraft Scarab 34 Super Sport, 1987 Scarab 34 Super Sport with triple 430HP V8 Evinrudes. I have owned/restored this boat since 2004. From 2004 until 2009 the boat saw fresh water only. From 2009 and until now I have had the boat on the water 7 times, however, I have replaced all of the wood in the transom and stringers with Arjay, had the three engines rebuilt by Monty Racing to use pump gas and be reliable and still pump out 430HP, has all three gearboxes done by Bob's machine Shop, and mounted the engines up on jack plates especially made for this kinda power. The engines has 7 hours of run time since total overhaul. The instrument panel is designed by me, all the gauges built by Livorsi, throttles and shifters re chromed, and all the switches replaced. The switches are placed in an extremely unique way, so that you can hold your hand on the throttles while each trim switch is within finger reach. All the gauges might scare the average boater, but they are laid out so that at cruise each orange needle will point straight up, hence scanning the instruments takes less than a second. I had the Garmin 3206 mounted with XM weather, XM music, digital sounder, and wired to the DVD in the cabin, but somehow it does not turn on anymore. The stereo has three amplifiers, 14 speakers, and two 10" subs. I hate loud music but this stereo makes even loud music awesome. While I was rewiring the boat I got some help from Blue Sea and mounted all automatic charging relays so that one can burn the the three 27 size house batteries down to zero and the engines will still start as if nothing happened. When the engines start they will charge their own starting battery first, and when that is fully charged it will automatically charge the house batteries. The wiring was done with all tinned copper wire and according to ABYC standards with respect to color and then upped one size for each wire. All connectors was done with 3M shrink connectors for marine use and none has failed as of yet. Only the best of the best was used in restoring this boat as I am an airline pilot and wants stuff done right the first time. What keeps this boat from the showroom floor is the interior. Despite the fact that I redid all of it, some back panels rotted and has been taken out. The plate covering the thick wall IMCO custom made fuel tank I had made to this boat, also need some work as it is getting soft. Rest assured, this is not a boat for the average boater, but a great opportunity for someone who loves speed and fishing as much as I do, and have a place to keep/work on this kinda boat.
