1984 Brewer 12.8 Cutter After her extensive refit in the past two years, Marathi is an excellent example of one of the original 10 Brewer 12.8 Cutters designed by Ted Brewer, and built by Ft. Myers Yacht & Shipbuilding in 1984, for members of the Knickerbocker Yacht Club on Long Island, who wanted an improved and updated version of the legendary Whitby 42. Brewer incorporated their ideas, had new molds built in Ft. Myers, and the 12.8 designation makes these yachts truly unique from all the other Whitby, Brewer 42 and 44 yachts. Major changes from the Whitby 42 included a Cutter Rig instead of the Whitbys Ketch Rig, a modified long fin keel with a centerboard and a skeg-hung rudder. With improved engineering such as having a Central Sea Chest for all Sea water intakes instead of multiple through-hull and sea cock fittings, the fleet of Brewer 12.8 yachts are lighter, stronger, faster, and carry more ballast for stability than the Whitby 42. With a Sail Area to Displacement ratio of 16.74, Marathi has comparable performance and handling characteristics to the renowned Valiant 37 & 40, designed by Bob Perry, but with the added advantage of being able to gunkhole in many sheltered harbors in Florida and the Caribbean, not accessible to deeper draft bluewater cruisers. Her 4'6" draft is ideal for cruising the shallow waters of the West Coast of Florida and the Bahamas, yet with the centerboard down, her 9' draft provides plenty of stability, upwind pointing ability, and offshore performance with a well-balanced helm. The Listing Agent has sold and sailed on two other Brewer 12.8 vessels, and owned and sailed on his personal Brewer-designed yacht for the past 15 years with a similar underbody configuration, except a modified bulb keel instead of a centerboard, and can attest to the excellent sea-kindly, yet lively performance you can expect from this 1984 Brewer 12.8 Cutter.  If you are looking for a turn-key bluewater cruiser with all the right gear and recent updates; look no further because these are but a few of the recent Upgrades: 2005 Yanmar engine, Dell computer with a fully-integrated suite of Navigation Electronics, including Radar, Autopilot, Active & Passive AIS B, Depth, Speed, SSB, VHF with DSC, displayed on a 19 Acer high-resolution Monitor utilizing Maptech & SeaClear GPS Chartplotting programs. New 16,000BTU A/C, new MASE 4.5Kw Generator with only 121 hours, Two 12V Electric Primary Winches, Marine Village 48 GPD Watermaker, Mack 2015 Full-Battened Mainsail, 440W Solar Panels, 1800W Inverter, SS Rails instead of Lifelines, 2013 SeaFrost 12V Refrigeration, 8 @ 125 Amp Trojan Batteries, new interior light fixtures, & new Lewmar Deck Hatches. This 1984 Brewer 12.8 is also equipped with a custom aluminum Stern Arch for Solar panels, antenna and integrated Dinghy Davits, plus an aluminum Swim Platform with SS Swim Ladder. She

1979 Brewer 46 “Sogno II“ is a custom built Ted Brewer designed, offshore sailing yacht built by Mao-Tai and Pan Oceanic Marine in Taiwan in 1979. Built in Fiberglas and with flush deck and raised deckhouse, the boat features a distinctive canoe stern which provides safety and comfort especially in following seas. The reputation of this proven blue water yacht is legendary. “Sogno II” is in sail-ready condition, ready for her next adventure.     History: Pan Oceanic Marine had its beginnings in 1979, when Reese Palley asked naval architect Ted Brewer to design a flush-deck pilothouse cutter. That is just what Ted did, naming the design the Oceanic 46. With the design in hand, Reese's next challenge was getting it built. He hired Robert Pancoe to get it done in Taiwan. Mr. Pancoe built Reese his boat, and decided that other sailors might like one too. Bob Pancoe took part of his last name into Oceanic, and Pan Oceanic Marine was born. Pancoe then asked Ted Brewer for a 43-foot design, and then, a 38-foot version of the Oceanic. Ted complied. He even did an initial drawing for a 55-footer, but says he never completed the design.   Under the name of “Unlikely VII”, this vessel, personally owned by Reese Palley and Hull #1 of the line, made history as the first private sailing yacht ever into Communist China in 1982; first into the Black Sea port of Odessa in 1989; and first into Romania in 1990. Lovingly updated with computerized electronics and upgraded interior, she has had many adventures over many miles with her current owner, as well, and is now ready for the next chapter of her seaworthy life.

1986 Brewer Pilothouse 40 Japheth should be listed at a MUCH higher price, but the owners want her sold!  When you come and look at her, it will be love at first sight! Designed by Ted Brewer, she is most definitely a pilothouse vessel, but built on a sailboat hull and make no mistake, this is not a motor-sailor. She has one of the nicest interior layouts I've ever seen in a forty-footer: Accommodations for seven, galley up, dedicated inside helm station, forward facing chart table, full sized cockpit, separate shower stall in the head, abundant storage both on deck and below, average freeboard, and a low profile cabin house. Amazing! A raised dinette affords views while seated. The cook will enjoy meal preparation with top/front opening fridge, deep double stainless sinks, and a large Force Ten stove/oven - all this while being able to see outside and carry on a conversation with those in the cockpit. Motoring on a rainy day? Pull the dinette backrest aft and get comfortable at the inside helm station. There's something to be said for a dry pilothouse. With her Dickinson diesel heating, and hydraulic autopilot, foul weather cruising is no problem. The interior joinery work is impressive with fully louvered locker doors and staved bulkheads and overheads. The builder has carried off the difficult task of using mixed woods. Teak, white ash and cedar are effectively used throughout the boat. The effect is a light, detailed, and tasteful interior. "Japheth" is a 1986 model that has been repowered with a Yanmar 4JH3E diesel, has a Stack-Pack mainsail and roller furling genoa, and a good compliment of electronics.  She was given the kind of maintenance she deserves and is ready for more adventures. Vessel Walk Through: Three easy steps lead from the cockpit to the raised salon and galley. To starboard is the galley with a raised "U" shaped dinette to port. The salon table may be lowered to convert the dinette to an additional double berth. A dedicated inside helm station with full instrumentation and control is further to port with seating for two at the helm station and a movable backrest (forward for use with the dinette or aft for helmseat).  Visibility from the inside helm is excellent.  To starboard is a forward facing chart table and chart drawer. Down two steps is a second comfortable lounge area with a settee to starboard, a spacious head with separate shower stall, marble countertop, and a mirror to port, and a two bunk guest cabin is also to port.   All the way forward is the spacious "V" berth. Storage is available in a hanging locker, shelves, drawers, and cabinets. The salon and

1984 Brewer 12.8 This 42 Brewer 12.8 is newly renovated and ready to take you on your dream cruise today! In the early 1980’s, a group of 10 or so very knowledgeable yachtsmen whom had been sailing Whitby’s 42 went to Ted Brewer and had the boat redesigned. The design changes included substituted a cutter rig instead of the Whitby’s ketch rig, adding a Brewer bite to the keel resulting in a long fin keel with a skeg-hung rudder, adding a very well designed centerboard. In addition to the visible changes, the boats were re-engineered. The hulls are lighter and stronger, and the weight savings were used to increase ballast and stability. Today this same magnificent boat has been refitted with all of the modern technologies and amenities. MARATHI is ready to take your friends and family on the cruises that you have always dreamed of.
