1983 Carver 3607 Aft Cabin 36' The perfect live-aboard, perfectly prepared for you. Standing on the dock, looking at this Carver 36’ Aft Cabin, and you’ll think that she’s a much newer craft than she is. That’s because the current owner, who has owned her for 20 years, has spared nothing to have his own live-aboard craft be a model to represent the brand.  Above the waterline, she’s had over 20 gallons of Awlgrip Stark White paint expertly applied. Every bolt securing the bright stainless steel railings and cleats has been replaced and reinforced. Canvas covers abound, and she looks just as pretty with everything stowed and buttoned-up as she does when she’s got her TWO like-new bimini tops out and prepared to entertain. Her extremely-rare power train configuration will intrigue you.  This Carver will have your attention immediately because of her rare engine configuration - she’s powered by a single Volvo 6 cylinder TAMD 60B 326HP motor with only 3178 hours. While other Carver owners are having work done to their dual-engine gas power train, this single diesel has more than enough power to maneuver the strong river currents to get her to her present-day home, but she’s prepared to offer you a much more economical experience than the heavy dual powertrain setups. The PowerBoat Guide had this to say: At her introduction in 1982, the Carver 36 Aft Cabin was the biggest boat ever built by Carver. Immediately successful (due in part to her affordable price), she was built on a "dual mode" trawler style hull, meaning that it can run efficiently and very economical at slow 7-8 knot displacement speeds and still plane out when the throttles are applied. (Note that this same hull was later used in the production of the 36 Mariner.) A lower helm was standard, as was a tub/shower in the aft head. Outside, the aft deck is large enough got a few folding chairs, and the bridge is only three steps up with guest seating for four. The sidedecks are wide enough for easy bow access. Sleeps (6) in (2) staterooms, one aft ( Master) and V-berth forward as well as an extremely comfortable fold out couch with ensuite heads, and convertible dinette with galley down.
