1997 Carver 405 Aft Cabin (PHOTOS COMING SOON) The Carver 405/406 is, like most Carvers built in the 1990’s, a conservative, heavily built double-cabin cruiser whose principal characteristics were a spacious floorplan. She was introduced in 1997 as the 405 Aft Cabin, becoming the 406 Aft Cabin in 1999 when the cabin windows were slightly redesigned. She rides on a deep-deadrise hull constructed of solid fiberglass, and with nearly 14 feet of beam making the 405/406 is a spacious boat inside. Her efficient two-stateroom interior is arranged with the galley and dinette down from the salon. Angled double berths are found in each stateroom and two full heads. The aft head is equipped with a separate shower stall. Light maple woodwork and large wraparound deckhouse windows make the salon feel larger than the actual dimensions suggest. The aft deck is large enough for entertaining friends and family, and the walk around helm console on the flybridge provides plenty of topside seating. A hard top over the aft deck and radar arch were popular options. The upgraded 385 horsepower Crusader 502’s will cruise this 405 at a comfortable 16 knots while reaching a top speed of about 20-21 knots.
