1983 Mason Boats Mason 43 The design, commissioned by Pacific Asian Enterprises and built by Ta Shing in Taiwan, the Mason 43 has roots deep in the American tradition of offshore sailing yachts that reach back to John Alden, Philip Rhodes, and Olin Stevens. In fact, Al Mason worked for all three of the famous yacht designers. Though dated, the design remains one of the most popular offshore boats built in the last 35 years and is one of the best values for shorthanded long-range cruising on the used boat market today.   The Mason 43 is a phenomenal bluewater passage maker.  She is heavily constructed, has a full keel, high quality joinery and is purpose-built for offshore passage making.  The interior is well designed and the craftsmanship is well-executed.  She has great lines and will turn heads when you enter a harbor. It should be noted that the aft cabin of the 43 is one of the best aft cabins ever built. It is completely accessible to the saloon, has a full bulkhead at the head of both bunks, has a door that closes completely, its own hanging locker and ample cupboard space.  Bulletproof is the word most often used to describe the construction of the Mason 43, the specs on her fiberglass thickness is 1.12 at the way of the keel, between .5 and .61 at the turn of the bilge and her topsides come in at .375.  Geneva Marie has good bones but needs some work.   She is priced very aggressively.  This is a great deal for the right buyer. Contact John Johnson (JJ) at 210-408-1405.

1981 Mason 43 Solitude was purchased in Annapolis and moved to Sister Bay Wisconsin in 2002 where she has been sailed about 4 months out of the season on the Bay of Green Bay and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and always stored in a heated building during the off season. She is a fine sailor and virtually all systems have been refurbished. The hull is Awlgrip flag blue. The in boom furling system and power halyard winch has eased deck work. Both head sails are on furlers though the original removable baby stay is available should one prefer a handed on stay sail. The engine has less than 600 hours and has been totally reliable.
