A heavy dose of European styling and a super-competitive price combined to make the 4600 SCB an early marketing success for Maxum. At just over 30,000 pounds, the 4600 is a relatively light boat for her size—a fact that doubtless contributes to her good fuel economy. She rides on a solid fiberglass hull with moderate beam and a shallow keel for directional stability. The Maxum’s two- stateroom floorplan is arranged with the galley up, a step down from the salon level, with a choice of either an elevated dinette or a lower helm to starboard. Both head compartments are fitted with separate stall showers, and a good deal of cherry paneling and trim are applied throughout the stylish interior. On deck, the compact cockpit is shaded by a flybridge overhang. A ladder leads up to the flybridge with ample guest seating and wet bar aft of the helm, and the wide swim platform can store a PWC. Early models with 400hp gas inboards cruise at 16–17 knots cruise (24 knots top).
