The 1978 Rafiki 37 is a beautiful, well maintained vessel that is in amazing condition. The previous and current owner have added many features along with being repowered with a Yanmar 4JH57 57 HP diesel engine. The interior and exterior wood work is stunning with a professional looking finish. The owner states that all systems work great and suggests the only thing that may need a future replacement is the mainsail, although the current sail has a lot of life left. According to the seller, aside from the issues previously described, this unit is in good condition with everything working as it should. Stock #245704 Beautiful Sailing Vessel In Very Good Condition, Very Loved And Well Maintained! This 1977 Rafiki 37 designed by Stan Huntingford is a solidly built bluewater boat that is currently in inside storage in Bay City Michigan. The sellers have owned the boat since 1999 and have used it only on the great lakes since then. The boat has been on the hard for 5 years and if the seller was not 75 years old, he says they'd be launching the boat this spring and going sailing!! There are a few condition issues, but the sellers have had only a couple minor nuisance leaks. The starboard engine support is moist, though no issues were ever observed when operating the engine. The teak deck on the bow has been rebunged (275 screws), the starboard side deck has been done and the port side needs to be done. The sellers have never felt any sponginess or flexing over their 24 years of ownership. Engine was last run in 2020, the fuel in the tank should be replaced (45gallons). Aside from the items above the sellers have made some terrific upgrades in the last 8 years. A New Harken roller furler was installed in ~2017, with a new headstay and genoa. Seller Notes: "The boat has three brand new batteries.... one dedicated to the engine, as a starter battery, with a switch to isolate, and two deep-cycle batteries for house batteries..... in addition to the main tank for diesel, it does have the new aluminum forty gallon, and in addition to that is the sixteen gallon aluminum, with gauge, and fuel pump to pump the forty or sixteen aft to engine..... also it should be noted that there is all brand new Brian Toss rigging, oversized stainless, brand new main sail, foresail, and foresail, and staysail is on roller furling...... I am 72, and can sail this ocean goer single handed, from the cockpit..... all brand new cockpit cushions, covered with new teal sunbrella, biggest, and most spacious bed in the house, as it has a center cushion so entire cockpit makes into a bed.... there are porthole covers for all upper deck portholes, with sand in the bottom of them to keep them hanging even under severe wind conditions. they are all snap removable...... 1977 Rafiki 37 (LOCATION: Bay City MI) The Rafiki 37 is a blue water cutter, heavy displacement full  keel, and Yanmar diesel engine. This aft cockpit cruiser has walkaround main deck. Cutter rig, and life-line system.The roomy interior features teak bulkheads and trim,  and  teak & holly sole. Forward is the master cabin with double berth and ample storage.
