1925 Alden Schooner
Own a sailing legend! This classic John Alden Gaff-Rigged Schooner was built in 1925 and encapsulated in fiberglass in the 1990s. Beautiful, elegant, and perfect for cruising or charter.
Venus was built in 1925 in Freeport, Maine. She is design number 253-B by John Alden, built by T.H. Soule. She was a fresh water sailor in the Michigan Lakes and made her way down to New Orleans then Pensacola, FL in the 1950’s. Her current owners purchased her in 2012 and have been living aboard and restoring her.
She is completely wood but has been C-Flexed (encapsulated in fiberglass) in the 90s. The current owners sailed her from Pensacola to FL Keys and then up to Saint Augustine, FL. She is currently hauled out at a local DIY boatyard. She is a solid and sturdy boat and is eager to be loved!
"Venus" would make a great charter boat for romantic sunset cruises OR a great cruiser for someone with a love of classic schooners. She is pedigreed and full of character, with absolutely stunning lines.New bottom paint 6/16 Sanded and painted/varnished inside 5/16Deck was recently painted 2/16Outside woodwork sanded and varnished 6/16New hull paint

This John Alden designed, Harvey Gammage built auxiliary gaff-rigged schooner is simply an amazing vessel... complete restoration done with style and knowledge. Pictures will speak for themselves. A true treasure. HALF MOON is virtually a new boat. It has a new cold molded hull which eliminates the risks and ongoing maintenance/cost issues associated with old wooden boats. It has the unique distinction of being a new boat with state of the art electronics, navigation, systems and auxiliary, with a 1926 identity.John Alden had an alternate design for this production boat which was a Marconi rig. His specifications were used when changing the main rig from gaff to Marconi. The present layout is a modified Alden layout for this design. New ideas which were incorporated in to the design were the dual functioning doors in the head passageway area which allow for the ability to have a large shower/head area that flows from the port side to the starboard side. In addition, the entire head area is clad in corian for easy cleaning and waterproofing. Also, the butterfly hatch in the owners stateroom is removable and can be rotated so that it can function as an air scoop. The forward hatch also functions in this manner.

‘Wanderlure II’ is a spectacular example of a well executed restoration of a John Alden design schooner! Her sail plan is that of a staysail schooner for ease of handling and the ability to fly many combinations of sails. The new decks are of one half inch Silver Bali. The galley features a propane stove with oven, well insulated ice box, stainless steel counters and leaded glass paneled counter storage. Abundant light, ventilation, propane heat and sleeping up to four. With plentiful storage and larger water tanks this vessel is ready to go to sea.
