Twin General Motors motor with Marine Power Fuel System.... 6.2 L engines and gearboxes have been updated They were crate engines which were installed. The owner states that they will not turn over more than 3000 rpm, preventing the boat from getting on a plane. Engines will go to 6,000rpm in neutral. Owner believes it is a fuel problem and can be solved with in modifications/repairs. The Bimini top is homemade and is only used for storage. The upholstery was updated about 4 years ago. Interior and interior upholstery look good. Nice woodwork in the cabin. HVAC is working well.... The replacement installed recently. Fresh Premium battery charger Optimax Blue batteries (4) were replaced approximately 3 years ago. Exterior and interior lighting upgraded to LED. Minor oil leak from remote filter lines on both engines. NO power currently to spotlight. GPS is working. Last bottom job 2 years ago. It will need to be done along with zincs. Two of the engines are not running properly and will need to be repaired. Seller does not know what the issue is with the motor. A hull inspection on 7/31 revealed high moisture readings in the transom, the inspector says the stringers are wet and the boat needs to be dried out. The boat does have some cosmetics flaws in the fiberglass. The cuddy cabin area has a headliner that is sagging and the condition of the appliances onboard is unknown. 2017 Homemade Chinese Junk CURRENT PRICE IS A GUIDE. ALL OFFERS RESPECTFULLY CONSIDERED. General Description Thomas E. Colvin, NA Design 48' Ocean Cruising Auxiliary 3-masted Junk. She has a 5' Draft, and dual integral keel cooling. There is lots of headroom for a six-footer. This is a big, stable, tough, easily maintained, operator-friendly boat with a great deck layout, and a capacity to cruise anywhere in the world. Design anticipates easy crewing by a couple, and single-handed under sail or power is a viable option.Actual Condition It is reported, due to health reasons, the owner has suspended the project. All major steel construction has been completed, including grinding of all hull welds. The ship has also been sandblasted and painted. There are well over 6,000 hours of construction into the Chinese Junk at this point. The hull, deck, bulwark, and cabin plate are high-strength low-alloy Corten Steel. The frames, keel shoe and t-bar are A-36. All steel is certified, and from USA Plants. All plates were cut with plasma to preclude any warping. All welding was done with modern, inverter-based welding machines. The hull plate welds were triple welded with very high-quality filler metal. Generally, the interior welds were made with a dual shield mig process, and the exterior welds were made with a traditional stick process. The rest of the work necessary to complete the project is primarily inside carpentry, plumbing, sail making and wiring. Almost all major parts, such as portlights, shaft, propeller, hatches, windlasses, masts, rigging, etc. are ready to bolt on to the hull now that the sandblasting and painting have been completed. For you traditionalist's out there, Read on This Sailboat was built by a man with passion and a vision to create a classic, traditional sailboat from the George Buehler stable( Great bear).Elmer worked for the forestry and put 10 years of labor and love into her before passing. Tom Tallman purchased and re-powered and fitted taller aluminium mast and rigging and was 'gutted' selling her. Current owner purchased in 2005 and loves her strong construction, sea kindle-ness, taller mast in light airs and young boat with traditional style. Hard Chine construction. Topsides have conventional carvel plank on frame construction, w/ a large fir chine timber, below chine there is a diagonal stave planking running between chine + keel. Staves are well bedded in 3M 5200 rubber sealant. Double ender wood hull. The Hull took 10 years to build. Port Oxford cedar; Cap-rail, bulwarks siding. Stanchions + Samson post are Pacific yew. Douglas Fir; covering boards, chine timber 2" thick, 2-3/4" thick fir floor timbers, sawn fir knees under ends of deck beams. Backbone structure is steel bolt fastened. Decking material: Laid planked Douglas Fir VG old growth w/galvanized steel wood screw fastenings. Ceiling 1/2" thick yellow cedar fastened down w/steel nails. Long cast cement keel. (cement keel has encased in case hardened steel tractor tread steel pins to have more weight for volume.) Internal pig iron added to extended seats + lead ingots under bunk, approx
