The boat is good mechanical and structural condition. I have kept the boat in tip top condition as i have used her for chartering, sailing lessons and racing. The rigging and sails are 3 yrs old. The 30 hp Yanmar fwc diesel was rebuilt and now has about 500 hrs. The Hurth v drive transmission is 2 yrs old.The shaft and cutlass bearing are new. The topsides have been painted with a one part epoxy paint. I replaced the entire cabin top,a 500 hr project with 15 layers of glass and epoxy. I strengthened the mast step with white oak, encapsulated in the epoxy resin and cloth. There is also a stainless plate below mast step. The interior is vanished and clean. There is no stove or refrigeration. I do have a propane system and hot water tank to be installed at some time. The cushions have all been recovered. I have kept the boat light as i do race. She has a solid glass hull, built much heavier then vessels today. I also replaced the tiller with a wheel. There is an emergency tiller. The deck is plywood cored and has no problems. She has a cockpit that will accommodate 6-8 adults very comfortably. If you are looking for a boat that can sail in 25-30knt winds and is very comfortable to sail, this is the boat. It has raced to Bermuda twice. Cal built the Cal40 in 1964 and is still a winner on the race course. The Cal36 is the "Little Sister",a classic plastic winner. She has Raymarine wind speed and depth. there is a dodger frame, but no canvas dodger. The bottom was stripped and now has only one coat of ablative racing paint. I have owned her for 16 yrs and have loved every day that i sailed her. The price reflects upgrades, sea worthiness and comfort in the cockpit. The interior has a large forward cabin and bunks for.4 more people. She good use some creature comfort upgrades ,but as a vessel to enjoy in all weather conditions, the Cal 36 is a winner.
