1979 Morgan 382 The Morgan 382 is an innovative 1970s design without racing aspirations. A teardrop-shaped hull, wide beam, discreet reverse transom, and long overhangs might be the hallmarks of a vintage racing boat, but Ted Brewer designed the Morgan 382 as a cruiser, not as a racer that could also be cruised. Owners have taken them everywhere. The boat is balanced and well proportioned, and the low cabin trunk and 6-inch bulwarks help keep the profile trim. At upward of 17,000 pounds the boat is almost in the heavy-displacement category. The hull, however, with its elongated fin keel, skeg-attached rudder, and roundish bilge, isn't that of a slow cruiser. The all-wood interior offers volumes of room and storage. The head of the double quarter berth to starboard serves as the seat for the nav area; opposite is a large and efficient galley. In the saloon, the L-shaped seat to port seats two comfortably at the drop-leaf table. A wide settee and a narrow pilot berth occupy the starboard side. The head is roomy and has a fully enclosed shower. Under sail, the motion is predictable and comfortable, and the wide deck offers excellent footing with many flat surfaces. The practical and well-protected cockpit commands a clear view in all directions. The helm is responsive. Overall, the boat is stiff and fast; it points high, and it cuts through chop easily. The anchoring system consists of a single anchor roller and a foredeck locker.  All items that need maintenance or repair are easily accessible. Morgans are reliable on the hook, in light air or in heavy weather. On this Morgan there is some work to do as leaks associated with deck checking and ports have caused damage to the interior, one of two potable water tanks was never used by this owner due to leaks, and the hot water system needs work. On the positive side she features reverse cycling HVAC, two 75 watt solar panels with a new solar controller, bottom paint just 2 years old and maintained by dive services, and new batteries and canvas in the last year. The Perkins Diesel has been regularly maintained.  The pillow style  mattress and interior cushions show as new.

1982 Morgan 416 Surprize is an example of the pinnacle of Morgan yacht’s development of this rugged, well proven cruiser. This fourth generation of the "Out Island" series features better tankage, a larger rudder, and a 5’ taller double spreader rig than her predecessors. If you are seeking a low cost way to do long distance cruising in comfort or to have a great time in the islands without breaking the bank, this is a very good opportunity. This is also a perfect "live aboard" yacht.  The Morgan OI 416 is a very comfortable vessel that is easily handled.  This bat has been expertly maintained and is in sail away condition.  These are the boats that defined "Island Cruising".  Charlie Morgan designed these boats to capture the island cruising market and he truly succeeded.  This particular boat is a fine example of a classic design that is well maintained.  If you are in the market for an OI 41, Surprize is a must see!

The boat was in solid boat prior to the refit, the boat has been in the same slip since new, original owner took the boat to the bahamas when it was new , thereafter the boat was only used as a day sailor until the shake down/ ocean sea trial last January, the original owner did a lot of good custom stainless steel add ons, bow rollers, hayfield lever with a massive deck attachment point, extra cleats, etc.. The second owner had the boat from about 1992 to late 2013 when the current purchased the boat, this third owner planned to cruising to Tortola, he added a tremendous amount of equipment, replaced lots of original equipment and then his wife has made him sell the boat, when I inspected the boat out of the water about 5 years ago it had no blisters, when I saw the boat out of the water last fall the boat still did not have any blisters and the owner put three coats of pettit trinadad bottom paint on and waxed the hull, last January the current owner took the boat out in the atlantic ocean for a shake down and encounter gale force winds for three days while going from Beaufot inlet to Charleston, the boat handled and operated very well. The boat has never been damaged and has less than 1000 hours on the engine. This boat is by far the best out island I have ever seen and being in the marina business for 22 years I have seen and sold a lot of them. This boat will make any owner a very fine cruising boat and it is truly turn key, no work is needed. You may call me at 252 670 3759.
