2001 Corsair F-28R The Corsair 28R is an easily trailerable sport boat because of its light weight and low profile on the trailer. As with other Corsair trimarans, the transition from trailering to sailing only takes about 30 minutes. The Corsair 28R has a roomy, functional interior with all the necessary amenities for comfortable overnight cruising. There are sleeping accommodations for four, a galley area with two-burner stove, stainless steel sink, fresh water tank and pump, and a marine head with privacy curtain and a holding tank. Seat / bunk cushions are standard and are available in over 40 colors and patterns, or may be covered with customer-supplied fabrics as desired. The R model sports a taller but lighter weight rotating carbon fiber mast of airfoil section. The mast is raised or lowered using the installed winch on the trailer. This is a straight forward operation that can be accomplished easily in a few minutes, even with only one person. The carbon fiber mast of the Corsair 28R has the double advantage of being more efficient and powerful on the water and of less weight for easy handling on the trailer. The rudder pivots up 180-degrees for trailering. This and the fully retractable daggerboard also enables the 28 to pull in close to shore and anchor in knee-deep water, or even put the Corsair 28 onto a sandy beach. The rugged dual axle galvanized steel trailer will provide many miles and years of trouble free trailering. Surge brakes, lights and spare wheel are provided. Sails offered by Corsair are Mylar-based "Tape Drive" sails by UK Sailmakers. These feature a Technora scrim and a system of Polyester and Kevlar tapes arrayed along the natural lines of stress in the sail material. The carbon mast has an airfoil-shaped cross section and is supplied by the Omohundro Company of Minden, Nevada. The 28R also features a roller furling / reefing boom, which has proved very popular on earlier Corsair trimarans such as the F-27. Also had an alcohol stove, porta potty, bimini top. 1988 Schock 35 A Genuine Offering of Comfort and Speed The concept of this design was to avoid the contorted and distorted shapes dictated by designing to a particular rule and to produce a fast "top end" boat at an exceptional price. The Schock 35 has a very smooth hull shape and a narrow bow section with an 17.5 degree entry angle for good penetration power in a chop. 4000 pounds of ballast give the boat excellent stability. The ballast-to-displacement ratio is kept high for stiffness whereas the displacement-to-length ratio is very low for planing capability. The rig of the Schock 35 features a tall bendy section and is designed to optimize upwind performance with a very high aspect foretriangle and off-the-wind performance with its huge main and spinnakers. Construction utilizes unidirectional E Glass and features a cored hull and deck, full length toe rails, hiking ramps, extra large windows, deck prisms, and lexan forward hatches. The deck layout is proven and derived from other successful large Schock models. It is highlighted by a voluminous 12-foot long cockpit with the primaries and secondaries at waist level for ease of tailing and winching functions. All hardware is top quality. The interior layout of the Schock 35 was clearly designed to minimize weight and to concentrate the heaviest components down low over the keel. This has not been done, however, at the expense of comfort and style. Efforts to offer good cruising accommodations in a race-conscious interior have resulted in a wonderfully unobstructed interior plan ideal for both racing and cruising. Twelve feet of beam and over six feet of headroom have given Schock a lot to work with. The galley of the Schock 35 is placed to port and is equipped with and ice box, a deep stainless sink, and a two burner stove and oven. The ice box is covered with a minimum of 2 ½ inches of insulation, and an enclosed storage locker is placed outboard for easy access to galley provisions. The countertops are attractive plastic laminate that provides a durable work surface. Directly opposite the galley is a generous chart table with an hinged lid, a shelf, and storage compartments. The table faces fore and aft, with the navigator comfortably seated on a built-in bench seat. Raised winch platforms give him plenty of headroom. There are four large settee berths in the main cabin and two quarter berths aft. Cut-outs in the berth structure provide easy access to storage compartments and to the fuel and water tanks. The owner has spent over $15,000.00 in updates and repairs. He is redoing the interior cushions and rebedding the genoa tracks. He has installed new B&G instruments. The engine is in good condition. There is a 150 mylar genoa in fair condition, a 100% jib in good condition, a the main is in fair condition. It has rod rigging and a hydralic back stay tensioner.
