1988 Tartan 3000 This 1988 Tartan 3000 is a lot of boat for a 30 footer and a lot of boat for under $20K. In 1980 Tartan asked Sparkman & Stephens to design a new 30 footer. What was needed was a yacht that would replace the very successful Tartan 30. In addition, the new design had to retain the positive qualities of its predecessor, and at the same time, incorporate advances in the hull shape, appendage design, and construction material and systems. Sparkman & Stephens solution to this challenge was the Tartan 3000. It weighed 1,000 lbs. less than the 30, and carries about the same size rig. The lines of the 3000 are very much in keeping with contemporary thinking, reflecting what was learned over the years since the 30 was designed. She has been lightly used over the last 8 years since the current owner purchased her. She is located in Hessel, MI and available to be seen by appointment.

1987 Freedom 36 This fresh water 1987 Freedom 36 has had many recent upgrades and has been well maintained by her meticulous owner. Gary Hoyt designed the Freedom 36 to be a comfortable performance cruiser, with great accommodations below decks, and a powerful rig above deck that is easy to manage and sail single-handed or with minimal crew. Sail management is even easier with the addition of a Leisure furling boom for her full batten mainsail along with a furling jib. Upwind she cuts easily through the seas and down wind she is a power house.  Down wind sailing with the spinnaker is a snap thanks to the "shotgun" spinnaker pole system. All lines are led aft to the cockpit for safety and convenience, tacking is as simple as turning the wheel.  She sails well in all conditions and is a stiff boat in heavy air and seas. Powered by a Yanmar 3GM30F which the owner estimates to have less than 500 hours of use. The Freedom 36 is on the list of 19 boats in the book "The Worlds Best Sailboats" by Ferenc Mate. 1989 Catalina 42 This 1989 Catalina 42 is a one owner, fresh water boat that has been in the same family for 26 years. The Catalina 42 was introduced in 1988, the hull was adapted from an earlier racing hull designed by Nelson Marek. Catalina Yachts modified the racing hull with a new cabin top, interior, and rig in order to make it a comfortable coastal cruising boat which two people could easily handle. The spacious design, three cabin, two head, with Pullman owner's berth is comfortable for a gang of crew or three couples on an extended cruise. With a race-bred hull, a substantial rig, and wing keel the boat is moderately stiff and capable of weather legs. When reaching or sailing down-wind the fun begins and the boat is capable of pushing the knot meter past 15 knots! As would be expected the deep keel version is slightly more weatherly than this wing keel version. However, it is reported that in 10 knots of true wind, she should make an honest 6 knots pointing to within 32 to 34 degrees of the apparent wind. Comfortable, sea-kindly, safe and fast. This Catalina 42 is a handsome boat that has been well maintained. She offers solid performance, excellent accommodations and good value for buyers looking for a cruiser or club racer in this size range. A dinghy and outboard are included, contact us for a personal showing today!

The boat was re-powered with a Yanmar 4JHE 44 hp. diesel inboard in 1988.
