2017 Viking Yachts 48 Convertible This 48 Convertible is a handsome addition to the world famous Viking product line up with exciting styling, an impressive three stateroom layout with Vikings legendary construction and attention to detail. Beginning with the same resin infused beamy hull as the new convertible, which carries its breadth farther aft for more interior volume, a wider cockpit, and more running surface, the Viking design group then turned to its pair of $1 million computer operated five-axis profiling milling machines and embarked on a prodigious course to create house and deck assemblies to produce the 48 Open, the 48 Sport Tower and the 48 Sport Coupe. In the process, Viking has once again rewritten the ground breaking rules of modern yacht design in creating fresh, contemporary models within a model. Completely unique and exciting profiles are offered with two other versions of the Viking 48 featuring a three-sided fiberglass, air conditioned deckhouse. Adding dashing definition and versatility this yacht can be further personalized with a Palm Beach Towers tuna tower for our Sport Tower version, or fitted with a radar arch or fiberglass mast for our savoir-faire Sport Coupe. Powered with MAN diesels the 48 Convertible will cruise at 30 knots with a top end in the mid 30 knot range depending upon engine selection, load, sea and other environmental factors. The raked entry and forward chine are designed to pierce through head seas and divert spray downward. Convex hull sections add curvature and form to the running surface, while molded running strakes accentuate lateral tracking and maneuverability.

1987 Viking 48 Convertible When the sky turns black and the seas froth to white, captains and crews do not need the extra worry of if their chosen boat was built to withstand the true rigors of offshore fishing. The 48 Viking is one of the few boats they can trust, as she was built for the worst of days. According to PowerBoat guide, “Built on a lengthened and reworked Viking 46 Convertible hull, Viking used the extra length of the 48 Convertible to create a huge, 144-square-foot fishing cockpit—still the largest to be found in a flybridge boat this size. Unlike the 46, the Viking 48 has a solid front windshield and a much-improved engineroom. Like all Viking models, she’s heavily built on a low-deadrise modified-V hull with a wide beam, a shallow keel, and balsa-cored hullsides. The 48’s massive cockpit is fitted with two in-deck fish boxes, a tackle center, and a transom door—all standard. The flybridge has seating for eight. Additional features include wide side decks, a molded pulpit, and a spacious engineroom. A stiff ride in a chop, with 735hp 8V92s the cruising speed is a fast 27–28 knots with a top speed of close to 30 knots." This particular 48 is one of the most beautiful and tastefully customized examples to date. A full refit was undertaken by the renowned craftsmen at CAY customs in South Florida in 2007 to modernize the boat and truly set her apart from the pack. The current owner has continued to improve the boat by adding new eisenglass, Garmin electronics, huge outriggers, and underwater lighting. She also has a fresh bottom and zincs and tuned prop as of the end of July 2015 and rebuilt starboard engine in early 2015. The galley AC unit was replaced in September of 2015.This boat is ready to be enjoyed immediately whether your passion is for fishing or cruising.
