Stock #356221 Well kept classic O'day, ready for the water, 10 HP engine, many updates This 1985 O'day 28 has easy stability and a forgiving nature making this boat for sailors new or experienced in boat ownership a good choice. The cockpit has GPS and a compass at the helm. Powered by a Westerbeke diesel engine with 10 HP that will get you anywhere the wind cannot take you. The galley has a sink, a two-burner propane stove, butcher block countertops, and a large ice bucket area next to the sink. There is plenty of storage above the counter. The dining area has two benches that convert to a bed and a large settee across from the dining table. The O'day has an aft sleeping area that also has an access door to the engine compartment. A more open second-engine access area is easily accessible underneath the stairs. The fore V-berth has sleeping space for two with padded walls and storage underneath and a wardrobe closet and drawers across from the head and has a door for privacy. The head is on the starboard side midships and has a toilet, sink, and shower with a door for privacy. She has plenty of storage throughout with cubby holes and storage cabinets. Very good condition has not been used much in past years but is ready to go. The Yamaha 9.9 hp motor runs very well according to the seller. The seller reports the systems to be in good working order. The main electrical system has been rewired with a new panel and battery switch and sails are in good order. Additionally, the shaft and cutlass bearing were replaced. Plus, the seller has a full dodger/cockpit cover newly made and a full boat cover included. Buyers are encouraged to make their own inspections to confirm condition. Stock #351280 Good condition 1986 Aloha 8.5 with solid sails and rigging. Westerbeke diesel engine Classic Ted Brewer designed 1986 Aloha 8.5 cruising sloop. Canadian-built traditional modified fin cruiser with auxiliary Westerbeke diesel in nice condition. The restored sloop has had most of the heavy work done and is ready to be enjoyed now while remaining projects are completed as desired. The engine was seen to start easily and run well. Good sail inventory with good condition 110 headsail on endless line furler and original main in serviceable condition. The main has 2 reefing points and halyard leading aft for easy single or short-handed sailing. The boat has a newer custom-made dodger with stainless steel frame and grab rails. Clear forward isinglass and an attachable sunshade included - great when at anchor to increase onboard comfort. Double lifelines offer secure access getting around topsides. Below is large and open with numerous opening hatches. The layout is traditional with a forward cabin offering a V-berth and storage areas. Aft of that is an enclosed head to port with hanging locker to starboard. The toilet has been removed but there is a new black water tank and hoses to install a new MSD if desired. The unit could also be replaced with a composting toilet. Further aft is a large salon with opposing settees (port converts to double bunk), bulkhead mounted table, galley aft with sink and large icebox. The stove has been removed and a propane one is offered in its stead. The boat offers large interior volume for the age and size of the boat. The cockpit is comfortable with full-length settees and cushions. Self-tailing primary winches are port and starboard with a newer traveler at the aft end of the cockpit. There is a short tiller to the stern mounted rudder. A newer GPS plotter is present on a mount at the front of the cockpit. Overall she presents well as a comfortable cruiser and is reported to perform well and handle comfortably in a wide variety of conditions. If you are looking to move up to a cruising sailboat with diesel for a minimal investment, this could be a great opportunity. Reason for selling is moving up.
