The overall condition as reported by a survey in 2023 is very good with some minor attention to the usual maintenance required by a boat of this age. There is no readable engine identification that would provide the year, however the survey indicated it is a GM 6-71 and the hour meter indicates 33 hours, but there is no mention of accuracy of the meter. Stock #427752 1951 Classic ED Monk 45 Motor Yach in very good condition and ready for cruising the Bay or motoring up to the Delta. This Classic Ed Monk is ready for its new owner and is an Eye Catcher either in the slip or on a cruise. Ed Monk Sr. was a boat designer from the 1920's through the 1960's. He has been recognized as a true ledged of marine design utilized by the US military during WW II designing patrol boats, tugs, and towboats. Yet the Monk legend is connected more with classic power cruisers than with any other style of boat. This 1951 cruiser is a perfect example of his designs that provide luxury liveaboard features and sleek performance on the water. Inside, you will find three main cabins that are large and well equipped. The main salon and helm area provide room for the Captain and an L-Shaped settee that will accommodate four passengers. The wheel is a classic round wood with handles that exemplify quality craftmanship. When you first board and enter the main cabin, your eyes are drawn to the magnificent wood throughout. The floors are inlayed Parkey, and the paneling is real wood slats polished to a perfect shine. A wood burning stove stands in the corner and soon becomes the center of attention. The Head is located mid-ship and has one of the largest showers of any boat this size. The forward stateroom is large with a large desk, a V-Berth, and a small head. The wood theme is carried throughout the stateroom with matching desk, flooring, and cabinets. The aft cabin is circular in design with a large table and booth style seating that extends through a half circle of the entire aft compartment. The table can be lowered, and a matching cushion placed on top to make a very large bed. This classic Ed Monk is the perfect get-away to the Pelican Harbor in Sausalito, with the ability to take it on a Bay Cruise or a trip up to the Delta. This listing is new to market. During the restoration, over 100 new laminated Oak frame sections were installed, and the hull was refastened with silicon bronze fasteners. There are also some unique construction components for this boat, separating it from most boats of this vintage. One of the most significant are the 16 foot Galvanized Iron Shear Clamps port and starboard in way of the Chain Plates that provide strength and prevent hogging. The owner, who is an experienced vintage boat restorer, says there is zero hog on this boat, and he reports that, structurally, the refurbishment is 100% complete. The laminated spruce mast was refurbished with the scarfs opened and new epoxy applied, then re-stepped. The owner indicates it is more waterproof than it has ever been. The teak decks appear to be in very good condition, recently refurbished and sealed. The brightwork is also in very good condition with only minor touch-ups needed. The hull is shiny and bright following the restoration and refinishing. The current owner added the wind turbine generator, solar power, and a watermaker. The final touches on the restoration included the installation of stainless steel Genny Tracks (port and starboard), the 24 volt off-shore charging system, an LED anchor light, along with several other LED light upgrades. A Raytheon radar system, a depth sounder, and a speed indicator were also installed at the previous haul-out. There is an original analog speed system that could be rebuilt. The mainsail is a bit tired, and would be best used as a backup. The boom is solid, but could use some new paint. The owner confirms the engine runs strong, and was recently serviced. A GMC service manual is included. All winches have been refurbished by the current owner. Stock #404692 1946 ED MONK!! Must see! Hull restored. Recently added Solar and Water Maker! This is a beautifully restored Ed Monk design that clearly shows excellent original craftsmanship and detailed care during the restoration project. The hull is constructed with yellow cedar planking, and the interior finishes include black koa from Hawaii. The vessel's provenance includes being the flagship of the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club (RVYC), and was commissioned by a Canadian sailor who was Olympic silver medalist in the sport. The salon / galley area is equipped with a gimble 3 burner propane stove and oven, a large refurbished refrigerator with a Nova Kool remote condenser and cold plate during restoration, along with a gimbaled table that can be hung from above. There is plenty of cabinet storage, and a large stainless steel sink, The engine room is quite spacious for a boat like this, even access below the engine is provided. There are crew quarters in the fore area, just behind the sail storage area. There is a mid-cabin with a single berth and a berth off the salon that will accommodate two. There is also a head with a shower and additional wash sinks in the berth areas. This listing has now been on the market a couple months. Please submit any and all offers today!
