This Blue Grass Aluminum boat was manufactured circa 1960 by the Belknap Howe & Mfg. Co. of Louisville, Kentucky. It appears to be quite rare as I have found none like it and the company has been out of business for some time. I was told the wood decking and trim is Mahogany. It is rated for a maximum of 25HP and up to four passengers. This boat was owned by Dr. W.C. Potter of Russell, Kentucky who was an avid fisherman, and it's safe to say this boat has probably creeled more Bluegill and Bass than any other boat still in use. It would be a gem for collectors or better yet a boat to be enjoyed for many more years by someone who loves to fish. It is fairly light weight and easy to maneuver which makes it easy to get in and out of the lake or to store in a garage. It has always been kept indoors which accounts for its better than average condition for a boat of that age. It has no rust to speak of, but there is a little corrosion near the hull on the inside that appears to be superficial and easy enough to buff out. The boat and trailer do need some refinishing and standard maintenance. I have stored it in my barn for about nine years. The Evinrude Fastwin 15 ran fine nine years ago, but hasn't been used since. The boat also comes with two gas tanks which I believe hold six gallons. The gas has to be mixed with the appropriate oil which requires a 6:1 ratio. The trailer requires a 1 7/8 inch ball on the hitch. I do not believe a person would have a problem putting the boat as is in the water and heading out for a good day's fishing, however a little refinishing, fresh coat of marine paint, etc. would likely ensure this boat's use for years to come. It had always been my intention to fix it up and use it regularly, but nine years have past and I never have the time. My uncle, Dr. Potter, would have wanted the boat used and I can longer justify simply storing it away. I'd love someone to have it that will enjoy it. I consulted with an antique boat specialist who suggested a value of around $2000 if it were in mint condition, but thought $1500 to be fair for the boat as is. I have decided to list the boat at $1125. If you are a collector or someone looking for a good deal on a fishing boat, the Blue Grass with its unique style and vintage panache is it. I am the original owner of this boat/motor/trailer. I purchase this package in April of 2006 for approximately $28,500. The purchase price included the upgraded 5.0L 260HP motor, color matching tandem axle trailer with brake, Bimini top, and a custom made snap on bow/cockpit cover. Take a look at the Tahoe website and you'll discover that a NEW 2015 boat with comparable features will cost you $38,000. After my original purchase I added an automatic bilge pump and upgraded the propeller to a Mercury High-Five Stainless Steel 19" pitch. This setup makes the boat jump out of the water to pull skiers (at the cost of top end max speed of about 40MPH). This boat was primarily used by me and my family on Deep Creek Lake in Western Maryland. Each fall the boat was professionally winterized and stored in my garage at our lake house. One of the primary reasons I purchased this package was because of the swing-away tongue on the trailer so that it fits in my garage.The boat, motor and trailer still run and look great. It has lost some of its deep blue sheen due to the sun. Also the snap on bow/cockpit cover has faded in the sun and was damaged by an early snow fall (while the boat was on the lot waiting for service). The cover has been patched and it is still perfectly functional (it just looks patchy). THIS IS A 1970 DUO SPOILER 15 FT FIBERGLASS TRI-HULL. IT'S OLD BUT IT'S NICE. IT RUNS LIKE A TOP. SHORT STORY ABOUT THIS BOAT. IT WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW BY AN OLDER GENTLEMAN THAT USED IT AT LAKE ERIE. HE BECAME UNABLE TO USE THE BOAT AS THE YEARS WENT BY AND HE PARKED IT IN AN OLD GARAGE. HE WOULD GO OUT AND JUST SIT IN IT AS HE LOVED IT. AS THE YEARS WENT BY THE GARAGE ROOF DEVELOPED A LEAK AND IT WOULD LEAK ON THE BOAT. EVENTUALLY IT ROTTED THE COVER AND RAIN GOT INSIDE AND ROTTED THE TRANSOM AND THE REAR PART OF THE FLOOR. A FRIEND OF MINE PURCHASED THE BOAT FROM THE OLD MANS SON AND WE PURCHASED THE BOAT FROM HIM. IT WAS ORIGINAL COMPLETE WITH THE MOTOR AND ORIGINAL TRAILER. FROM THAT POINT FORWARD I DID A COMPLETE REBUILD OF THE INSIDE OF THE BOAT. I REMOVED THE TOP CAP FROM THE BOAT AND PUT IN A NEW TRANSOM AND FLOOR AND RE-FIBERGLASSED STRINGERS, FLOOR AND TRANSOM. INSTALLED NEW CARPET AND USED EVERYTHING THAT WAS ORIGINAL TO THE BOAT SO AS TO KEEP IT AS CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL LOOK AS POSSIBLE. I MODIFIED THE SEATS AND REMOVED TWO OF THEM. (I DO HAVE THE OTHER 2 SEATS). I ADDED A LIVE WELL, ROD HOLDERS AND A BRAND NEW GAS TANK. INSIDE I HAVE ALSO ADDED BLUE LIZARD LIGHTS FOR NIGHT FISHING ALONG WITH A NEW GARMAN DOWN-VU FISH AND DEPTH FINDER WITH WATER TEMP FEATURE. THE BOAT IS EQUIPPED WITH THE ORIGINAL 50 HP MERCURY THUNDERBOLT ENGINE THAT I HAD A MARINE SHOP GO OVER IT BEFORE REINSTALLING IT ONTO THE TRANSOM. IT STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL PAPERWORK INSIDE A POCKET ON THE MOTOR COWLING. I THEN PURCHASED THE 6 HP EVINRUDE AND PUT THAT ON THE BOAT AND BOTH MOTORS ARE STEERABLE FROM THE CONSOLE. THE BOAT HAS A BRAND NEW BATTERY AS WELL. THE TRAILER IS ORIGINAL TO THE BOAT. I SANDED IT AND PAINTED IT AND ADDED ALL NEW LIGHTS AND WIRING. THE TRAILER HAS TWO BRAND NEW TIRES ON IT AND THE BEARINGS HAVE ALSO BEEN REDONE. THERE IS A SPARE TIRE THAT IS ALSO NEW. ADDED A NEW DOLLY LEG AND WINCH. THE BOAT COMES WITH A BRAND NEW MOORING COVER AND BIMINI TOP WITH ALL NEW HARDWARE THAT I HAD MADE FOR THE BOAT BY AN AMISH MAN.
