1978 Rafiki 35 Sloop
Broker’s Comment: This is a much-loved cruising sailboat designed by Stan Huntingford. Laid down with heavy fiberglass in Taiwan in 1978 by Lien Hwa, it features quality construction that many feel has long since been lost to mass-produced boats. 32 Rafiki 35’s were built. Graceful traditional lines and quality teak joinery make her a thing of beauty.
The boat was equipped for cruising and has many upgrades. Those include: Si Tex SNS-700i Chart plotter (2014), TackTick Knot, Depth & Wind, Battery Charger (2014), 3 batteries (2014), Sails Refurbished (2013), Lazy Jacks in 2013, new cockpit cushions (2013), New VHF w/DSC (2013), new fuel tank (2013), Air conditioning installed (2015), Refrigeration (2015), and Harken Mainsheet Blocks (2013).
1987 Freedom 36
Broker’s Comment: This 1 owner Freedom 36 has always been berthed in Erie at Erie Yacht Club. It has only been used in fresh water. Her owner is principally a Day Sailor. Freedom Yachts are very easy to sail single handed. With all controls lines lead aft to the cockpit, a deep-roached mainsail drives her easily and her self-tending jib makes tacking easy. Her fin keel allows for a quick turning radius and easy maneuvering in crowded marinas.
Her carbon Fiber Mast eliminates rig tuning and her wide side decks are free of obstructions. Lazy Jacks handle the main with ease. She sails well in all conditions and is a stiff boat in heavy air and seas.
Below she is very roomy for a mid-thirties vessel. Ample storage, large berths that can accommodate 7, good light and ventilation, and two private cabins make this an excellent choice for cruising sailors.m, 3GM Yanmar, Low Hours
