This is a cutter rigged boat with an extruded aluminum keel stepped mast and an extruded aluminum boom. There is a Profurl roller furling unit on the headstay and a Facnor LS130 furling unit on the cutter stay. The sail inventory includes a mainsail, a 100% jib, a staysail, a storm jib, and a gale sail. All are serviceable with slides and bindings intact. This 1973 Bristol 35' was designed by Clifford Swain, chief designer for John Alden, and built by Bristol Yachts. She is a long fin keel sloop, drawing 5' 0". This makes her one of the most forgiving and easy sailing vessels of this era. She is a sturdy boat with beautiful lines. Stepping aboard you will be instantly impressed by how all of the bright work has been beautifully maintained. The cockpit sole grating is in beautiful condition and matches the rest of the brightwork. The owner has also built a beautiful matching pilot seat that is extremely comfortable, adjustable, removable, and has storage underneath. The cockpit has a large wheel, Ritchie compass, VHF radio, and a Garmin echoMAP DV. It has large storage lazarettes under both the port and starboard seats as well as a large lazarette aft of the pilot seat that provides access to the rear transom and additional storage. There are two Lewmar winches to each side with the mainsail traveler directly behind the helmsman. The cockpit is covered with a large bimini with Sunbrella fabric that matches the main sail cover and the jib. Aft of the cockpit is a stainless steel frame with dinghy davits and the mounting for the solar panel. Moving forward you will quickly note how wide and unobstructed the walkways are. The deck of this boat is amazingly uncluttered of the usual "toe bangers" found on the decks of many sailboats. On the bow you will find a Seahorse windlass with 20 ft of stainless steel chain, 120 ft 5/8 in nylon rode, and a Bruce anchor in a stainless steel anchor track that is integrated with the pad eye for the forestay. The forestay has a Profurl roller furling carrying a 120 Genoa. The main and the Gen are both Dacron and have been completely restitched in recent years. Entering the cabin the galley is directly to port with a large dinette/sleep berth forward of the galley. To starboard is a large settee / sleeper that is set up for a sling berth. There is lots of storage above both the starboard settee and the port dinette sleeper. The cabin is wide and spacious, with a lot of light through the port lights, and the cushions are brightly upholstered and in great condition. Moving forward there is a wet head between the salon and the V-berth, The V-berth is roomy with lots of storage in the bulkheads and beneath the cushions. The cushions are nicely upholstered and in great condition, and there is a very large hatch for ventilation. Forward of the V-berth is access to the chain locker. When not under sail this Bristol is powered by a 30 HP Yanmar diesel engine. She carries 25 gallons of fuel which she sips sparingly. Below, all finishes and upholstery appeared to be well cared for and no rips, tears, or excessive wear were noted. No unusual or unexpected smells or orders were noticed. Topside, all canvas, and running rigging appeared in serviceable condition. No soft spots on the deck were noted. All in all, this appears to be a well-maintained and cared-for vessel. For bluewater cruisers, and those wanting to bluewater cruise, the Shannon brand is often on the short list of highly desirable vessels. This 1980 Shannon 38 ketch (cutter rigged) is fit and ready to go. The Shannon 38 is a rugged long-range offshore sailing yacht while still being an excellent coastal cruiser. Features have been incorporated into the design and construction of Shannon to create seaworthiness, comfort, and speed in all wind and sea conditions. This catch rig provides some of the most versatility of any modern rig for varied wind and sea conditions. The interior of this particular Shannon 38 is finished in a warm satin finish teak that provides a homie and comforting feeling when enjoying the cabin. Starting forward there is a large double V-berth with shelving to port and starboard and drawers below. It has access to the chain locker at the forepeak. Moving aft, there is a handing locker and storage cabinet to port and a head with teak accents, toilet, sink, and hot and cold water shower with teak great to starboard. The main salon is spacious and comfortable with a folding table center midship, a double pull-out settee to starboard, and a port side pilot berth. The table is teak with drop leaves and rails to keep items in place when at sea. Aft on the port side is a hanging locker and storage cabinet followed by the NAV station and a quarter berth. On the starboard side is the U-shaped galley with a gimbaled three burner propane stove with oven and broiler, and a deep double stainless steel sink. Electronics and navigation included a NEMA 2000 backbone, a Garmin GPS Map 1243 MFD chartplotter (2024), a Garmin 24" solid-state radar (2023), Data marine depth gauge, Raymarine i50 & i60 speed, wind and depth gauges (2023), autopilot, VHF radio, and four-speaker stereo system. The electric system includes one 110w solar panel with MPPT controller (2023), a Freedom SW 2000 inverter / charger, and four deep cell marine batteries (3 house, 1 start). When not under sail, the boat is powered by a 40 HP Perkins 4108 Diesel engine with 3823 hours on it. She has a new transmission (2024) and carries 65 gallons of fuel. Her stainless steel standing running is less than 10 years old and she has new stainless steel chain plates replaced in 2023. Her sail inventory includes a 110% Genoa, (2020), Staysail (2016), Mainsail (2015), Mizzen sale (2020), and a 140% Reacher that was new in 2020 and has never been used. Also included is an Asymmetrical spinnaker with continuous line furler and bowsprit extension that was new in 2020 and only used twice. There is also an older Mizzen staysail (1986), and a storm trisail that was new in 1981 but has never been used. Ground tackle includes a 44 lb Bruce on 150 ft of 3/8" chain. Also included in the sale of this vessel is a 2010 Frankfort Boat Works 7'6" fiberglass dinghy and a Suzuki 2.5 HP outboard engine.
