1970 Columbia 43,Meticulously maintained and upgraded for family sailing and live aboard comfort, this is a William Tripp, Jr. designed cruising classic. Her rugged hull was built for speed and blue water, while her expansive flush deck and huge T-shaped cockpit facilitate sail handling and give everyone space at sea. But they are equally fantastic for sun bathing on light air days, and entertaining lots of friends and family in port! She has an entirely customized interior that is unlike any other Columbia 43. In addition to her 6'3" headroom, queen-size V-berth and extra long upper/lower bunks in the main cabin (which is totally separated from the galley and accessed via a dutch door), we've added a lot of family friendly live aboard features. There's a drop-down table for dining and/or schoolwork in the main salon (in the 'up' position it secures book shelves while at sea, opens up a big play area, and reveals a white board and black board underneath). The original nav station (which was just aft the V-berth on this boat) we converted first to a built-in crib, then toy-box, and can now be used for additional linen/clothing etc. storage (we also added lots of closed shelved lockers in the V-berth for the same purpose). We eliminated the u-shaped seating area in the galley and built all the extra storage and work surfaces needed for live aboard cruising, plus added a nav/computer workstation area just inside the companionway, easily accessible (by stairs, no ladders) to the cockpit. The galley is a comfortable size to cook in, with an 8 cu ft capacity refrigerator/freezer, 3-burner propane stove w/oven, microwave, double s/s sinks, hot/cold pressurized water and lots of countertop space. There's one head, but it has an electric flush Jabsco (w/holding tank and Y-valve pump-out options), an integral shower, wet locker and lots of shelved storage space. All cabins are bright and airy thanks to large overhead hatches and the addition of deck prisms, parquet wood cabin sole throughout, and new custom interior and cockpit cushions (the cavernous lazarettes in the cockpit convert to a queen-size berth for sleeping under the stars). Major upgrades include a Yanmar 63 hp turbo diesel, recently resurfaced deck, new running rigging, custom radar arch/dinghy davits, solar panels (4) and wind generator, marine HF radio w/automatic tuner, A/C inverter, and windlass w/extensive ground tackle. Full head with stand up shower 4. fresh looking not salty. Unless the previous owner added one there is no factory radar arch. 110 Hino's were the diesel option. Hino is a Japaneses company owned by Toyota. Cockpit Hardtop - Many of the 32xx's in the Pacific North West have a hardtop added to the cockpit. the only issue I have ever had was a clogged fuel filter. From 1985 and on the flybridge helm is in the middle of the panel and there is an L-type seat on the starboard side. Boats Aft Cabin 3441 PSN . Beam 11'6" Water 65/89 gals. the 1998 Kohler 5.0 generator and 2004 reverse cyle marine air were installed in 2004. Large forward deck 8. Sleeps 6 in comfort. (Some late production 87's and early 89's are called 3218's) 135 Hino's were the diesel option with the small block 305 GM's (VP or US Marine) as the gas standard. Inside and flybridge helm 5. 1988 3218 Motoryacht. 150 Hino's are the diesel option with US Marine (marinized Chevy 305's) being the standard engine. Radar arch seem to be a factory option on the 85 models. This provides excellent efficiency but the rounded chine creates a little more roll at anchor and a more then normal "Squirrely Ride" in a following sea. Common Options to improve the 33xx motor yacht: 1. 6. Tramson doors are standard in 1992 models and up. Underhulls - Underhulls are a modification of the standard rounded chine found on the 32xx. the flybridge helm is on the starboard side. Full head with shower. A complete enclosure can cost up to 5k 3. the ones with Nissan engines are pretty much just trawlers. 1985-86 3270 Motoyacht. the 110 hinos seem to cruise around 10-12 kts. Fuel Economy: the following numbers are what I observe on my 3270 with 135HP Hinos.
