1982 Nor'Sea 27 This 1982 Nor'Sea 27 has been lovingly owned by one couple since the boat was built. By any standards, the Nor'Sea 27 is a remarkable yacht, constructed to a standard that is rare in a cruising boat of this size. With her one-piece, hand-laminated hull, all-lead ballast, top-quality metalwork and remarkable joinery, the Nor'Sea 27 is the ultimate in transportable yachts. This small but rugged pocket cruiser provides live-aboard comfort and can handle heavy weather and long distances while remaining legally trailerable at only 27ft long.   It is said the Nor'sea 27 is one of only a half-dozen American production boats designed and built to spend a lifetime on the ocean, rather than in a marina.  Where most boats are built sufficiently strong to avoid warranty claims and Coast guard recall lists, the Nor'sea is built to a different standard. The Nor'Sea hull is hand laminated in one piece--not two halves glued together.The laminations schedule call for a minimum of seven layers of alternating 1 1/2 oz, mat and 18 oz roving on the sides, increasing to nine layers at the waterline, 11 layers at t eh garboard and 22 layers at the stern. Thicknesses vary from 5/16" on the sides to 3/4" at the keel. Chainplate areas are heavily reinforced. This is approximately the same layup schedule as used on much larger "cruising" Boats, i.e Valient 40, Tartan 50. The lapstrake construction requires approximately 40% more labor hours in layup than a smooth hull. The benefits obtained--much stronger and rigid hull.

Rear cabin with berth on SB side and equipment storage on Port side. Tool chest and work bench built across back. In excellent condition throughout. Installed new Yanmar 2YM15 in 2008. Has 500 hours with excellent maintenance. Burns 1.0 liter per hour at 5.5 knots and 2500 rpm. Sails: New North roller furling jib (135%) and fully battened North main in last five years. Harken roller furling. All new standing rigging and lifelines in last five years. Most running rigging new. Three-line Lazy Jacks done with Harken parts. Six part Ronstan main sheet system. Sandblasted and sanded bottom in 2013. Four coats of Gougeon epoxy followed by four coats of Interlux 2000 barrier coat epoxy. Interlux Micron Extra black bottom paint. In essence, this is a fabulous cruising boat, designed and outfitted for simplicity, reliability and trouble-free sailing. Complicated twitchy-glitchy systems not included. All fundamentals present and done well. Federally Documented -- transferable to new owner. Equipment: Large Bruce anchor with Lofrens manual windlass. Secondary large Danforth. 100 feet of galvanized 5/16 chain and 220 feet of three-strand anchor rode. LifeSling and folding MOB ladder. LeFiell mast and boom (sold by Forespar) This is top-notch mast for NS 27. Harken self-tailing, two-speed winches. Newly-rebuilt Monitor wind steering. Anchoring sail. Whale hand-operated bilge pump and Rule 1500 automatic pump operated by Johnson water-sensing switch. New 11 gallon (41 L) aluminum fuel tank with all fittings on top inspection port. Can be removed for cleaning. Tank gives theoretical 225 NM range. Two portable heads, one in each cabin. Leaves space for a serious galley. Hillerange 2-burner propane stove with oven. Two 11-pound propane bottles in sealed compartment behind rear cabin, vented overboard with dedicated thru-hull. Solenoid switch next to stove. Buddy cast-iron wood stove and wood compartment built into boat. Removable Charlie Noble chimney and spark arrestor. Works very well. Deep sink with through-hull drain. Two 13-gallon Nauta water tanks. Hand pump for tanks and foot pump for seawater to sink. Large Igloo cooler in dedicated space. Electrical: Simple. A pair of Trojan 105 AGM 6-Volt batteries in series to get 12V system. Heavy duty batteries used in golf carts and cruising boats. Used for both starting and house. 220 amp-hours. Biggest draw is solenoid on propane stove system. For security, I carry a fully charged 12V auto battery and jumper cables, but have never used them. Inverter: 150 watt with 110 output. Charge phones, operate laptop, etc. Built-in Pro-Sport battery charger. Garmin 740 touch-screen GPS/Sounder. Icom DSC-capable VHF. Still has Garmin 128 GPS in cabin as back-up. AM-FM Radio with two speakers in cabin. Depth sounder with interior transducer (not a thru-hull). Mast-head tricolor. Also deck-level running lights. Spreader lights and fore-deck light on mast. Portable anchor light to hang on backstay. Stitch-and-glue marine plywood and plexiglass hard dodger. Attaches with four quick bolts. Massively built double-axle steel trailer with new adjusting bunks. Load Range E Carlisle Trailer tires with 3600 pounds capacity each. New axles, hubs, and electric brakes.
