***UPDATE MAY 27TH, 2019*** ~ The Decks and Cabin Roof have been repainted with Non-Skid Paint. ~ Much restoration has gone into this beautiful vessel, and she is waiting for her new owner to steward her forward and enjoy her fine sailing characteristics. Stock #042148 Classic San Diego Built Kettenburg known as "Aristocrats of sail" The K-38 is 38' overall but 25'10" at the waterline, 8' beam, 6'2" draft. Sail area 538 square feet. The exquisite beauty of the K38's lines, its ideal size, its incredible feel of balance and speed, its sleek, narrow hull, its meticulous craftsmanship in wood and its silent, easy motion in a seaway combine to make it superior to all other yachts for sailing in Southern California's waters. Designed by Paul Kettenburg, and built at the renowned Kettenburg Boat Works on Shelter Island, Chelsea is the 27th boat of this design built in 1954 of Carvel planked Mahogany. K-38's are still recognized as the "Aristocrats of sail" on the Pacific Coast. Her spruce mast was completely rebuilt in 2000, and is currently in the seller's warehouse. It will be reinstalled on the boat at the time of a sale. The mast currently on the boat belongs to a different K-38. When the mast was rebuilt, it was Totally disassembled, re-glued, re-rabbitted, re-finished with varnish (Not paint) and re-wired at a cost of $10k. A completely new transom was professionally installed along with the aft 3rd of the boat being replanked at the same time. In 2004 the entire boat was gone through, and every rib was examined and sistered where needed. At that time, a custom brace that consists of a custom built rib which goes from the port shear clamp to the starboard shear clamp was installed to give added support to the mast step and floors in the area a around the mast. The turnbuckle transfers stress from the chain plate to a stainless steel "floor" which is bolted to a new oak floor in the bilge. The boat was completely refastened and caulked before paint was applied.

Chris KellyYou’d never believe that the Baja 38 Special, referred to fondly as “Old Faithful”, has been in production for a decade. It has a sleek, modern look, and although truly a high performance boat, it’s smooth to the touch and easy to handle. The 38 Special has a wider beam than traditional offshore boats, enabling it to have a more spacious cockpit with plenty of different seating arrangements. The cockpit area of the 38 Special, is in a word, impressive. It has great looking upholstery and colors, and the layout of options makes for a comfortable and fun ride. The wraparound aft bench seat allows seating for up to five people, and if you’re really in the mood to lounge, the bench seat can also be folded down to a full size sun bathing area, while still allowing access to the wet bar. The padding around the sink and refrigerator are notably a nice touch, covering all angles for your guests’ safety. The HelmThe 38 special’s helm is easy to customize to your own liking, from the tilt steering wheel to the bucket seats with drop down bolsters. The 38 we tested had Mcleod power bolster seats, which I really appreciated when we were hitting speeds of 60 mph. Once underway you’ll find the windshield does a good job of deflecting the wind up and over your head with an unobstructed view. The Gaffrig shift and throttle controls are placed comfortably and operate with ease. As far as the layout of the gauges goes, they like the rest of the helm, make sense. They’re large and easy to read without taking your eyes off the waterway.Sun PadThe sun pad stretches the entire beam of the transom and doubles as the engine hatch. It’s contoured and fitted for lounging, and without too much effort you can easily go from the sun pad to the swim platform, which is seamlessly integrated into the hull and a

Forward is a wraparound sofa with high/low table seating five comfortably. This converts quickly to a v-berth sleeping two. The world is at your fingertips with an entertainment center with flat-screen TV, DVD and stereo with CD player and remote. Your choice: make do, or make out like a bandit. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Fountain 38LX Review You've never experienced a 38-footer with performance this good.I measure my success in life not by dollars but by the number and quality of great adventures I have. A pilgrimage to visit with Reggie Fountain and run his boats always qualifies as an adventure. I know that sometime during the day, I will get to drive ridiculously fast on the water and will love every minute of it. Fountain holds the world record for the fastest V-bottom boat, at just over 160 mph. The fun part of that from your perspective and mine is that Fountain translates the technology that allows that kind of speed into the company's other boats, like the new Fountain 38 LX - the LX denoting luxury. Performance We ran the 38 LX on the hallowed waters of the Pamlico River behind the Fountain factory in Washington, North Carolina. While a 3-foot wake constituted the biggest sea we could find, the 38's ability to ignore it completely speaks well for its projected seakeeping abilities offshore. Our boat sported triple 225-hp Mercury Optimax Saltwater outboards, along with a set of water pressure, voltage and trim-angle gauges for each. In addition, each Fountain receives a Gaffrig GPS-based Tattle Tale speedometer with analog face as standard equipment. This very simple but accurate unit remembers the top speed until you hit reset. 2003 Mariner 38 Orient Trawler "Magic Moment" is a wonderful opportunity for anyone looking for a later model trawler, well under $200k, that has the reliability and maneuverability of twin Cummins diesels as well as a wonderful two stateroom/galley up Europa style layout and design.   Add in the optional bow thruster and docking in tight quarters or going through locks is a breeze eliminating one of the "not so fun" parts of cruising!   "Magic Moment" also benefits from fiberglass rather than teak decks and her fuel tanks are made of fiberglass not steel which creates problems for so many other trawlers in this class.  The engine room is well laid out and surprisingly roomy still offering good outboard engine access even with the twin engine design.  Inside the cabin is finished in rich teak throughout and craftmanship is apparent in all the fine details.   The Europa design affords a nice covered aft deck as well as walk around side decks but still allows for plenty of light in the interior.  Two good size staterooms and a head with stall shower make this the complete package. "Magic Moment" will make a great boat for cruising the Great Loop, island hopping in the Bahamas or just running up and down the Chesapeake Bay!  She is conveniently located in Baltimore's Inner Harbor and is easy to view, just minutes off I-95 and only 20-25 minutes away from Baltimore Washington International (BWI) airport.  Call Chuck Meyers today to set up an appointment!
